ChoiceOne Bank Annual Scholarship Applications Now Open

ChoiceOne Bank, a financial institution dedicated to supporting local communities, is pleased to announce that the application process for its annual Scholarship Program is now active. This initiative is designed specifically for graduating high school seniors who plan to further their education at accredited colleges in Michigan.

Scholarship Details

The bank will award $1,000 scholarships to 19 students from various communities across Michigan. ChoiceOne Bank’s President, Michael J. Burke, Jr., emphasized the importance of this program by stating, "The cost to attend college is so high; helping students in our communities who wish to continue their education after high school is crucial. We are proud to provide scholarships to ease that financial burden, as investing in the future leaders of our communities is essential."

Eligibility Criteria

The ChoiceOne Scholarship Program is aimed at graduating high school seniors, GED recipients, and home-schooled students. Candidates must be preparing to attend an accredited college or university in Michigan in the fall of 2026. The selection process will favor students from the areas served by ChoiceOne Bank, which covers regions in West, Central, and Southeast Michigan.

Each of the 19 winners will receive $1,000 allocated for their first year of college expenses. Additionally, family members of ChoiceOne Bank’s employees can also apply, with one selected applicant receiving another scholarship of $1,000. Notably, the funds will be sent directly to the chosen college or university.

Application Process

Applications for the ChoiceOne Scholarship will be accepted from January 5 to March 8. To apply, students are required to write an essay detailing their views on community service. The essay must be 500 words or less and should include a description of a significant community service experience, the reasons for their involvement, the beneficiaries of their service, and their personal achievements resulting from their efforts. Students must also submit supporting documents, including their high school or home school transcripts, or GED records, alongside their completed online applications by the deadline.
