Korean OTA CoreExpress Reports Promising Trends in Local Hotel Sales for 2025

Expanding Opportunities in the Korean Inbound Market: CoreExpress Report for 2025

NetSys Japan, headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, and with operations in Niigata City, is excited to reveal findings from its latest report on the Korean inbound market. In collaboration with one of Korea's largest local OTAs, NOL interparktour, operated by NOL Universe Co., Ltd., the report outlines the significant growth prospects for local hotels in South Korea's tourism sector for 2025.

Continued Growth in Inbound Tourism

The report indicates that from January to December 2025, the number of visitors from Korea to Japan is projected to reach 9,459,605, marking an increase of 7.3% compared to the previous year’s figures from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). This growth is fueled by the expansion of local routes by airlines such as T'way Air and AeroK, which have increased direct flights from regional cities like Fukuoka, Obihiro, and Ibaraki to major Korean cities such as Seoul, Jeju, Cheongju, and Busan. As a result, not only urban areas but also regional cities are seeing heightened demand for inbound travel, creating new opportunities for accommodation providers.

Rising Room Rates and Sales Growth

According to the 2025 sales data from NOL interparktour, the total room night sales slightly dipped from the previous year. However, an increase in average room rates—up by 15.9%—allowed for overall higher sales. The direct contracts with international OTAs have also steadily increased, with September marking a record high in sales composition. It’s worth noting that while there was a temporary dip in demand in July due to earthquake prediction alerts, a rebound occurred during the holiday period, contributing to rising booking numbers. Overall, sales expanded throughout the year, reflecting a positive trend, particularly in terms of direct sales ratios.

Shifting Demand Towards Regional Cities

The sales data indicates that the revenue share from regional cities like Fukuoka and Hokkaido is on the rise, complementing the major urban markets of Tokyo and Osaka. This shift can largely be attributed to the increase in direct flights between Japan and Korea, expanding travel routes through local airports. Moving forward, regional accommodations are expected to become increasingly important in attracting Korean tourists.

For example, a hotel in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, initiated a direct contract plan in the autumn of 2025. This strategic move, coupled with the expansion of regional air routes, has led to a remarkable sales increase of approximately 350% compared to the previous year.

Future Prospects

The report asserts that the Korean inbound market is expected to continue its growth trajectory, particularly in terms of demand for regional accommodations. Employing OTAs strategically will play a vital role in enhancing revenue for these establishments. NetSys Japan remains committed to supporting hotels in maximizing their international visitor outreach and sales potential through the CoreExpress service.
