The ISI Japanese Language School, part of the WEWORLD Group based in Tokyo, hosts over 10,000 students across nine campuses in four major cities—Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Nagano. This institution welcomes students from more than 100 countries, and in recent years, the number of Bangladeshi students has steadily increased. Currently, there are 391 Bangladeshi students enrolled across the group, with 210 of them attending the Shinjuku campus. During the visit, the school administration highlighted the ongoing educational policies geared towards higher education and employment as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing the Japanese language education for learners from non-character-based backgrounds.
Insights from School Leadership
President Masayuki Ogino began the meeting by expressing a warm welcome and outlining the school's commitment to enriching the educational opportunities it offers in terms of both quality and quantity. Principal Abo subsequently presented on the characteristics and career trends of learners at the Shinjuku campus. He emphasized the innovative educational support using ICT, including the introduction of unique materials and learning apps designed to aid students in mastering Kanji as well as creating self-study environments utilizing smartphones.
Student Interaction and Class Observations
The visit also included a vibrant student exchange, where Bangladeshi students shared their motivation for learning and their future aspirations. The atmosphere was friendly and engaging, and the embassy representatives praised the students' serious approach to studying and their proactive attitude. During the classroom observation, the delegation gained firsthand insight into a Japanese language class with Bangladeshi students, appreciating their presentations and collaborative efforts in learning.
