Blue Bottle Coffee Unveils New Shinsaibashi Cafe in Osaka on September 19, 2025

Blue Bottle Coffee to Open Shinsaibashi Cafe in 2025

On September 19, 2025, Blue Bottle Coffee will celebrate the grand opening of its second Osaka location, the Shinsaibashi Cafe. Nestled in an area known for its vibrant shopping and artistic flair, this new establishment will aim to enrich the coffee culture in Osaka, coinciding with Blue Bottle Coffee's 10th anniversary in Japan. This cafe, designed by the renowned Keiichi Ashizawa Architecture Design Office, embraces the concept of a "Luxe Retreat," reflecting both the traditional entrepreneurial spirit of Osaka and contemporary global sensibilities.

A Unique Design Experience

The architectural design of the Shinsaibashi Cafe showcases a harmonious blend of brutalist concrete structures with warm wooden furniture and textiles, exuding comfort and sophistication. The interior pays homage to notable Osaka landmarks, such as the Tsutenkaku Tower, with geometric elements transforming from squares to octagons, elegantly embodied in the cafe's aesthetics. Additionally, materials inspired by Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s golden tea room provide a luxurious touch, enhancing the overall indulgent coffee experience each visitor can expect.

The cafe will feature a spacious design, boasting 38 indoor seats and 44 outdoor options, making it ideal for both solo coffee enthusiasts and larger groups. Sunny days invite guests to unwind on the expansive terrace, where pet owners can also enjoy quality time with their dogs, thanks to dedicated dog-friendly treats and facilities.

Culinary Offerings

The Shinsaibashi Cafe promises a rich variety of offerings, available throughout the day. From delightful morning beverages to relaxing evening drinks, the menu will cater to various tastes. Guests can look forward to to delicious grilled cheese sandwiches—debuting in the Osaka region—alongside artisanal coffee brewed to perfection by skilled baristas. Sweet treats and seasonal lattes will enhance the menu, ensuring every moment spent at the cafe is notable.

Featured items include the "Black Cardamom Latte," a fragrant drink inspired by ancient coffee traditions, and an opulent "Affogato," made with rich coffee ice cream and fresh espresso. Additionally, the grilled cheese sandwich will feature a unique twist with homemade guacamole and fresh herbs, paired with a robust tomato soup—ideal for brunch or a casual lunch.

Exclusive Launch Items

To commemorate its grand opening, the Shinsaibashi Cafe will offer limited-edition items that reflect the unique cafe experience. These exclusive products, available only at this location, will include a specially designed mug and a stylish, durable lunch bag made in collaboration with the Los Angeles brand Apolis.

A Place for All

The Shinsaibashi Cafe aims to be a sanctuary for local residents, enhancing their everyday coffee journey while also welcoming visitors from afar. With its commitment to exceptional quality and customer experience, Blue Bottle Coffee hopes to introduce even more people to the joys of specialty coffee in an environment that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Osaka.
