Cambridge University's New Initiative

The University of Cambridge has unveiled an ambitious project to establish the Rokos School of Government, backed by an unprecedented donation of £190 million from investor Chris Rokos. This remarkable commitment marks the largest donation ever made to a British university and is set to pave the way for future leaders equipped to tackle intricate challenges in global governance.

A Vision for Leadership

The initial sector support of £130 million from Rokos will be augmented by an additional £60 million, provided that the University matches any further donations. Furthermore, the university will allocate undeveloped land in the Cambridge West Innovation District for the school’s construction.

The Rokos School will occupy a new building in this innovation center, which is strategically positioned to foster collaboration between technology and social sciences. Starting in 2026, it will offer a growing number of graduate programs, including master's and doctoral degrees, and collaborative degrees with other departments.

The establishment of a trust, pending approval from the Charity Commission, will oversee the school’s financial commitments. Governance of this trust will involve a select group, including university representatives and Chris Rokos. Key individuals appointed include Professor Sir John Aston and Professor Kamal Munir from the university, along with Dr. Christos Nifadopoulos and Dr. Elisabeth Kendall nominated by Rokos.
