Experience Hall Showcase at SIGGRAPH 2026
The SIGGRAPH 2026 Experience Hall is poised to redefine how we perceive interaction and storytelling in digital media. This year’s event takes place from July 19 to 23 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, featuring a plethora of interactive programs designed to give attendees a peek into the future of creative storytelling and technology.
Five Unique Programs
For this year's event, participants can immerse themselves in five distinct programs:
Spatial Storytelling,
Immersive Pavilion,
Art Gallery,
Emerging Technologies, and
Hands-On Courses. Each program promises to provide hands-on experiences that blend the boundaries between audience and creator, transforming spectators into active participants.
Spatial Storytelling: A New Narrative Medium
Spatial storytelling returns for its second consecutive year, aimed at transforming traditional storytelling into an interactive experience. According to
Esen K. Tütüncü, Chair of this program, the objective is to allow audiences not just to view a story from a distance but to actually inhabit it. This approach empowers participants, granting them agency to navigate and engage intimately with the narrative.
Highlighted presentations include:
- - Dog Walk: This project showcases how robot dogs develop their language capabilities through interaction, exploring themes of intimacy and companionship.
- - Flashover: An installation that encapsulates wildfire memories in a uniquely immersive way, challenging perceptions of disaster and memory.
- - Ancestral Craft and Emerging Technologies: An exhibit that combines local knowledge from the Amazon with XR installations, aimed at envisioning future possibilities grounded in cultural heritage.
Immersive Pavilion: Experience the Intersection
The Immersive Pavilion invites attendees to enter an arcade-like atmosphere where digital and physical realities coalesce. New definitions of what constitutes immersive experiences will be presented, going beyond traditional headsets to include sensory input and AI interactions.
Projects in this pavilion range from interactive gameplay to innovative art installations, allowing visitors to engage closely with creators and challenge the norms of digital interaction.
Art Gallery: Questioning Existence
This year’s Art Gallery focuses on the theme of
‘In-Betweens’, encouraging artists to explore the nuances between various concepts such as memory, identity, and human-AI relationships. The works challenge audiences to rethink their relationships with both the art and the world around them.
Emerging Technologies: Get Hands-On
The Emerging Technologies section showcases research that visitors can experience firsthand. This venue emphasizes the importance of interactivity and aims to present innovations in areas like haptics and robotics in a tangible way.
Hands-On Courses: Learning Through Doing
The revamped Hands-On Courses track enables participants to delve into topics such as quantum computing and virtual reality. This initiative allows attendees to actively engage with tools and create rather than just observe. Workshops include programming a quantum teleportation algorithm and creating interactive media with cutting-edge AI technologies.
A Call to Action
In total, the SIGGRAPH 2026 Experience Hall stands as an invitation for creative minds to step into a space where storytelling, technology, and artistry converge. Visitors are encouraged to touch, try, and learn directly from those advancing these innovative fields.
