The Tokyo Creative Salon 2026, one of the largest creative festivals in Japan, was held from March 13 to 22, 2026. This grand event, organized by the Tokyo Creative Salon Executive Committee, saw a remarkable turnout of approximately 1.3 million visitors across nine iconic areas of Tokyo, including Akasaka, Ginza, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Nihonbashi, Haneda, Harajuku, Marunouchi, and Roppongi.

The guiding theme for this year's festival was "FUTURE VINTAGE - Preserving the Memories of the Past for Future Creation". This concept aimed to unravel the layers of cultural heritage accumulated in the city and project expressions that connect Tokyo to the global stage.

Highlights from the City Wide Program



The event unfolded across a broad City Wide Program, featuring various activities and installations in each of the nine areas.

Akasaka Area: A Blend of History and Modernity


In Akasaka, the festival focused on its rich historical heritage by reinterpreting traditional cultural aspects. Events like the JAPAN PODCAST FES 2026 showcased popular podcasts that brought the listening experience to the streets. Additionally, the AKASAKA Motion Heritage project offered an interactive art exhibit that visualized geisha culture using motion data, highlighting Akasaka's refined cultural value through a contemporary lens.

Ginza Area: Evolution Through Tradition


In Ginza, festival-goers engaged in creative programs such as GINZA QUEST 2, which put a twist on the classic Japanese stroll known as "ginbura". Fashion snap experiences and social action initiatives like "GINZA's Flower Gift" encouraged community interaction, seamlessly blending traditional cultural practices with cutting-edge creativity.

Shibuya Area: Cultivating New Trends


Shibuya celebrated urban fashion, featuring diverse events tied to the Shibuya Fashion Week. The THE CULTIVATE MARKET by SFW® allowed designers and brands to collaborate with visitors, fostering a vibrant marketplace that blended sales with community engagement.

Shinjuku Area: A Focus on Dyeing and Vintage


The Shinjuku area put an emphasis on dyeing techniques and vintage fashion. The SHINJUKU SO/ME/RU RUNWAY showcased creations from students of the International Fashion College, while the Shinjuku Vintage Market highlighted unique finds under the direction of notable designers.

Nihonbashi Area: Crafting Futures


In Nihonbashi, traditional crafts met modern sensibilities through artisan exhibitions and interactive installations, emphasizing the blend of old and new through creative expression.

Haneda Area: Celebrating Beauty Through Cherry Blossoms


The Haneda area showcased Japan's beauty and craftsmanship under the theme “FUTURE BLOOM JAPAN - Exploring Beauty and Tradition through Cherry Blossoms.” Visitors got to engage with immersive displays that honored regional cultures, emphasizing Japan's rich heritage at one of its busiest travel hubs.

Harajuku Area: The Crossroads of Street Culture


Harajuku served as a vibrant display of street culture, featuring events like the URAHARA Fes. where new creators presented their interpretations of cultural phenomena.

Marunouchi Area: Sustainable Creativity


In Marunouchi, from March 18 to 22, the event featured experiential content promoting sustainable practices in fashion, blending business with creativity in this bustling district.

Roppongi Area: A Hub for Creative Talents


In Roppongi, a dazzling exhibition showcased creative installations from various artists, celebrating diversity and inclusion in a colorful visual display.

Special Events: Tokyo Vintage Fashion Week and Tokyo Trace


In addition to the city-wide festivities, the Tokyo Vintage Fashion Week emerged as an official component of the festival, held at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building, marking a significant step towards establishing Tokyo as one of the five major global fashion weeks. This inaugural event featured 83 companies and 107 booths, drawing an impressive crowd of 18,623 over three days.

Meanwhile, Tokyo Trace provided insights into the relationship between urban environments and creativity, featuring the NOMARHYTHM TEXTILE brand and capturing the essence of Tokyo's innovative spirit.

With its innovative themes and extensive collaboration among communities, the Tokyo Creative Salon 2026 not only celebrated Tokyo's cultural diversity but also laid the groundwork for future creative endeavors. As the festival concluded, it left a lasting impression of the powerful connectivity between past and future, inspiring a new generation of artists and creators to carry forward this legacy.
