Pacific PICKLE CLUB at HARAKADO Cultural Festival
Pacific PICKLE CLUB, a prominent pickleball brand managed by Transit Operation Service Co., based in Shibuya, Tokyo, will be celebrating the first anniversary of the commercial complex "HARAKADO" with an exciting pickleball event. From April 17 to April 23, 2025, this limited-time event offers a unique opportunity to experience pickleball at no cost.
The event is part of the "HARAKADO Culture Festival" and aims to create a buzz around this engaging sport in the heart of Harajuku. Working in collaboration with the design office "Lemon Life," situated on the third floor of HARAKADO, a specially designed pickleball court will be set up for the duration of the event. This exciting venue will feature two courts where attendees can borrow paddles and balls for free, enabling everyone—regardless of age or skill—to dive into an engaging game of pickleball!
In addition to offering the pickleball experience, exclusive merchandise will also be available for purchase during the festival. These unique items include original jerseys and pants, crafted from quick-drying navy fabric, adorned with the iconic pink accents of Pacific PICKLE CLUB. The collaboration between Pacific PICKLE CLUB and Lemon Life symbolizes a fusion of sports and design, reflecting the creative spirit of Harajuku.
What Is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, table tennis, and badminton. It originated in the United States, and it is played on a court that is the same size as a badminton court, using a paddle to hit a perforated plastic ball. One of pickleball's significant advantages is its accessibility; the ball's design allows it to resist wind, making it easy to control. Therefore, people of all ages—including children and seniors—can enjoy playing, making pickleball a beloved sport across generations.
According to the Association of Pickleball Players (APP), as of March 2023, nearly 50 million Americans had embraced pickleball, establishing it as "America's fastest-growing sport." Its popularity is now spreading across Japan, where it's quickly becoming a recognized sport that can be enjoyed by everyone.
