Dalton X Academy High School, set to open in April 2027 in Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture, is a trailblazer in Japanese education with its unique model that combines distance learning, full boarding, and exploratory studies both domestically and internationally. The school, which will be based in Ichinoseki but also includes a Tokyo campus, is set to hold its first-ever in-person open house events from June to August. During these gatherings, prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to explore the campus and learn about the institution's innovative educational philosophy.

School Overview

Dalton X Academy is on the forefront of modern education, preparing students to engage dynamically with the world around them. The curriculum is heavily influenced by the educational practices of Minerva University in the United States, focusing on experiential learning and community engagement. Students will rotate between residence at the Ichinoseki main campus and the Tokyo campus during their first and third years, while their second year will involve extended stays at various regional bases across Japan and abroad.

Open House Details

The open house will feature detailed presentations on Dalton X’s educational ideals, including the increasingly popular inquiry-based learning approach where students will be encouraged to venture into different regions for hands-on learning experiences. Event attendees will have guided tours of the facilities, including insights into the student dormitories and other facilities currently under renovation.

Interested parties must register online by two days prior to each event. The attendance is limited to 40 groups.

Online Options

In addition to the on-site events, Dalton X Academy will also host online open house sessions on July 18 and August 23, allowing those who cannot attend in person to engage with the school’s representatives. These sessions will discuss the school’s philosophy and answer any questions participants may have.

Additional individual consultations will be available from August 3 to August 14, each evening from 6 PM to 8 PM.

The Ichinoseki Campus

Meanwhile, preparations at the Ichinoseki campus, housed in a renovated former elementary school building, are progressing well. An open house event for the Ichinoseki campus is also in the pipeline, and details will be communicated once finalized.
