Kärcher to Showcase Innovative Solutions at Sewerage Expo 2026 Tokyo

Kärcher Japan, the local branch of the world’s largest cleaning equipment manufacturer, will be exhibiting at the Sewerage Expo 2026 Tokyo, held from August 4 to August 7, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight. This year marks a special occasion as Kärcher will unveil its advanced ultra-high-pressure water unit, the WOMA, designed to address aging sewer pipelines with innovative solutions.

According to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, approximately 490,000 kilometers of sewer pipelines exist nationwide, with projections indicating that nearly 40% will exceed standard durability within the next 20 years. This alarming statistic underscores a growing need for effective repair techniques. However, the construction industry faces challenges such as a shortage of skilled labor for removing deteriorated concrete within sewer lines and rising outsourcing costs.

The WOMA ultra-high-pressure water unit, featuring water pressure of up to 3,000 bar, will demonstrate an effective technique of concrete removal by solely targeting the corroded areas. This technology creates an ideal substrate for repair materials to adhere to securely. Kärcher’s participation at the expo will offer insights on in-house implementation of substrate construction using WOMA, aiming at reducing outsourcing costs, shortening construction time, and accumulating technical expertise.

This innovative solution aligns with Kärcher’s sustainability initiative known as “Go!Further,” which aims to transition cleaning from a mere cost aspect to a value-driven contribution. Under its mid-term management plan “Strategy 2030,” Kärcher is committed to providing products and services that contribute significantly to addressing societal challenges, such as the deterioration of sewer systems.
