IEHP's Sixth Mission Conference Celebrates Music and Healthcare Collaboration

IEHP's Sixth Mission Conference Hits a High Note

The sixth annual Mission Conference held by the Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) on May 1, 2026, struck a harmonious chord, embracing a musical theme that highlighted the power of collaboration in healthcare. Under the insightful words of musician Edgar Winter, who once remarked that "Music is very spiritual; it has the power to bring people together," the event showcased how unifying experiences can drive transformative change in one of California’s fastest-growing regions.

This year's theme, "Composing Tomorrow Together," resonated deeply with attendees, aiming to inspire and empower healthcare leaders to shift from isolated efforts to a more collaborative approach. The event welcomed over 200 invite-only guests, including executive and senior healthcare leaders, to network and share innovative ideas that can lead to sustainable healthcare solutions.

One highlight of the conference was a captivating performance from The Music Paradigm, a unique initiative that offers participants a chance to witness how trained musicians work together in an orchestral setting. Audience members were not only spectators but active participants in understanding the principles of teamwork and collaboration that are vital in both music and healthcare.

IEHP's CEO, Jarrod McNaughton, emphasized the essence of the conference: "Composing tomorrow together means creating a shared future in times of change. We are resisting the urge to retreat into silos and instead choose the power of collective solutions." This statement encapsulated the conference's ethos as speakers and attendees engaged in meaningful discussions about the future of healthcare delivery in the Inland Empire.

The day's agenda included enlightening panel discussions, both featuring insights from various stakeholders and co-sponsored by the IEHP Foundation, focusing on “Orchestrating a Healthy Future for the Inland Empire.” These discussions served to amplify the importance of community health initiatives and the ongoing collaborations necessary for progress.

Towards the end of the conference, the IEHP leadership proudly unveiled the 2026 Living the Mission Awards, recognizing outstanding local organizations and individuals for their exemplary contributions to community health. The recipients exemplified the ethos of collaborative care:

  • - Creativity & Innovation Award: Dr. Iheanacho Emeruwa, an internal medicine and OB/GYN provider, acknowledged for his impactful work within the community.
  • - Inspire Award: Michelle's Place, a cancer support center dedicated to educating and uplifting patients and their families.
  • - Optimal Care Award - Hospital: San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, a pivotal healthcare provider for several local communities.
  • - Optimal Care Award - Provider: Dr. Hua Bai, a seasoned pediatrician recognized for his commitment to child health.
  • - Vibrant Health Award: El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of underserved populations.

These awards not only celebrate individual and collective successes but also serve as a reminder of the ongoing work required to ensure access to quality healthcare for all members of the community.

In closing, IEHP demonstrated throughout the day that the convergence of music and healthcare is more than just a thematic choice; it symbolizes the harmony achieved when diverse groups collaborate towards a common goal. The conference left participants inspired and motivated, according to IEHP’s Vice President of Mission, Sandy Wyman, who remarked, "Offering inspiring experiences creates a shared understanding of collaborative goals, much like an orchestra breathes life into a musical composition."

As the event concluded, the anticipation for future conferences and continued dialogues about health initiatives in the Inland Empire is high, reminding everyone involved of the vital role they play in crafting a healthier tomorrow.
