Alps Blockchain Announces Major Corporate Rebranding Reflecting Evolution to Infrastructure Leader
Alps Blockchain Transforms into Alps
On October 22, 2025, Alps Blockchain, a prominent player in European digital infrastructure and Bitcoin mining, announced significant changes as it transitions to simply 'Alps.' This rebranding highlights the company’s evolution into a fully integrated infrastructure provider, stepping beyond its origins in Bitcoin mining.
According to Francesco Buffa, CEO and co-founder of Alps, this move is not merely a name change; it signifies a deeper transformation. “We are no longer just a blockchain company; we are now an infrastructure company. We design, build, and manage highly efficient data centers from the ground up, converting energy into computational power that fuels the digital economy.” This perspective illustrates how the company has shifted its focus toward developing advanced data center infrastructures capable of supporting not only Bitcoin mining but also future capabilities like high-performance computing (HPC) for artificial intelligence (AI).
From a financial standpoint, Francesca Failoni, CFO and co-founder, emphasized how generating computational power for Bitcoin has provided a consistent and unprecedented cash flow for the digital infrastructure industry. This strong financial backbone enables Alps to plan with a long-term vision, facilitating the strategic integration of new applications such as AI computing into its existing infrastructure.
Since its inception in 2018, Alps has developed and managed modular and energy-efficient data centers across Italy, Paraguay, Ecuador, Oman, and the United States. The company has already secured infrastructure and energy contracts aimed at reaching a computational capacity of 15 EH/s in the near future, which represents about 1.5% of the global Bitcoin hashrate.
With more than 250 MW of installed or ready-to-use capacity, Alps is known for its leading energy efficiency at 15.4 J/TH, ranking among the best in the world. The company’s ambitious expansion plan aims to increase its footprint significantly by 2029.
The rebranding to Alps effectively encapsulates this broad mission by positioning the company as a crucial player at the intersection of energy and digital infrastructure. By integrating the entire value chain—from site development and electrical engineering to the production of containerized data centers and on-site operations—Alps enables scalable and sustainable deployment on a global scale.
Importantly, the corporate structure, shareholder composition, and ongoing projects will remain unchanged despite this rebranding.
