About the Horizontal Recycling Project
The
horizontal recycling project is a groundbreaking endeavor aimed at achieving practical recycling of bottle caps used for plastic bottles containing alcoholic drinks. As part of this initiative, Japan Yamamura Glass has developed a unique two-piece cap made by integrating 10% recycled resin in its outer layer. These caps have been applied in a limited release for
Kirin’s Home Tap service, specifically for their
Ichiban Shibori Premium 1L PET bottle.
This project marks Japan's first endeavor focused on the horizontal recycling of caps for alcohol beverage containers, reflecting the growing commitment to sustainability within the industry. This achievement relies on collaborative efforts and extensive market research conducted in partnership with various stakeholders, including
Knowledge Wire, which provided critical insights through its G-search system and other media outlets.
The REBORN CAP PROJECT
In conjunction with these efforts stands the
REBORN CAP PROJECT, an initiative spearheaded by Japan Yamamura Glass aimed at enhancing the recycling rate of PET bottle caps. This project is pivotal in reimagining how discarded caps can be transformed into valuable new products, fostering a culture of sustainability and responsible consumption.
The Plastic Company within Yamamura Glass is actively seeking partners from various organizations nationwide to facilitate this recycling initiative, specifically targeting the often-overlooked area of bottle cap recycling.
Additionally, the
REBORN CAP PROJECT is proud to announce its inclusion in the
2025 World Expo in Osaka, Kansai, under the
TEAM EXPO 2025 program, further emphasizing its commitment to collaborative and innovative environmental solutions.
Conclusion
The presentation at the upcoming Japan Packaging Society conference represents a significant milestone in the quest for sustainable practices in the packaging industry. With the collaboration between Japan Yamamura Glass and Kirin Holdings, the emphasis on practical recycling methods speaks to a broader trend in environmental responsibility and innovation within the sector.
