FITUR 2026: A Powerful Catalyst for Global Tourism

The International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), an exceptional event organized by IFEMA MADRID, has once again showcased its pivotal role in the global tourism industry. Concluding its 46th edition, the fair demonstrated remarkable participation and success, drawing in over 255,000 visitors and generating an impressive €505 million in economic impact for Madrid.

An Overview of FITUR's Success

Taking place from January 21 to 25, 2026, FITUR has established itself as a cornerstone in the tourism calendar, not only for Spain but for the global travel community. The event saw more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries, demonstrating a commitment to showcasing diverse opportunities and innovations within the tourism sector. Notably, the participation included 111 official representations, highlighting the fair's reputation and importance on the international stage.

The event is significant for its economic contributions, sustaining approximately 3,753 jobs within the local community while reinforcing Madrid’s status as a premier travel destination. The growth in attendance, particularly a 12% increase in international visitors and an 11% rise in international exhibitors, reflects the rebound and resilience of the travel industry post-pandemic.

A Diverse Offering

Throughout the fair's nine pavilions, global destinations, businesses, and institutions presented their innovations and strategies aimed at enhancing travel experiences. The Knowledge Pavilion stood out, featuring eight auditoriums, 10 conference programs, and over 200 sessions led by more than 250 speakers. This initiative aims to equip industry professionals with insights vital for navigating the evolving tourism landscape.

In addition, several thematic sections such as FITUR 4all, dedicated to accessible and inclusive tourism, and FITUR Cruises, which promotes sustainable blue tourism, were well-received. These segments focus on addressing diverse visitor needs and expanding the tourism market with innovative solutions.

The festival also introduced new segments like FITUR Experience and FITUR Lingua, which cater to high-potential growth sectors, while FITUR Screen, Sports, Talent, and TechY promote the convergence of tourism with culture, sports, and technology. The emphasis on female leadership in tourism was highlighted through FITUR Woman, solidifying the role of women in driving industry change.

Looking Ahead to FITUR 2027

Following the enthusiastic reception of FITUR 2026, IFEMA MADRID is already gearing up for the next edition, with Puerto Rico confirmed as the Partner Country for 2027. The fair not only aims to continue fostering business relationships and opportunities in tourism but also seeks to emphasize the importance of responsible travel practices in line with sustainable development goals.

In summary, FITUR 2026 has reinforced its position as a pivotal event for professionals within the tourism industry, generating significant economic benefits and showcasing a diverse array of offerings that address contemporary travel trends.
