ELFBAR and LOST MARY's Commitment to Innovation
On December 10, 2025, ELFBAR and LOST MARY, two leading brands in the vaping industry, showcased groundbreaking advancements in their research and development (R&D) efforts. Focused on improving vaping safety and product quality, the brands have made substantial strides by conducting over
136,000 tests this year to validate their products, including e-liquids, aerosols, and materials. The rigorous testing aligns with their long-term commitment to enhancing safety standards in the vaping sector.
Focused Research on Nicotine Salts
Among their recent innovations, the brands published a comprehensive study examining nicotine salts—the critical component of e-liquids. This peer-reviewed research revealed that nickel-chrome heating coils in devices filled with 2% nicotine lactate release significantly more nickel than those using 2% nicotine benzoate over a four-week period. Furthermore, the aerosols produced from the lactate formulation exhibited elevated nickel levels. These findings, published in
Chemical Research in Toxicology, underscore the importance of reducing users' exposure to harmful substances.
In response to these results, ELFBAR and LOST MARY have announced the gradual removal of nicotine lactate and nickel-chrome coils from their products, calling on the industry to exercise vigilance regarding nicotine lactate’s usage and urging regulators to implement tighter guidelines on e-liquid formulations. This proactive approach highlights the brands' dedication to customer safety and public health.
Enhanced Testing Protocols
To ensure product safety and performance, ELFBAR and LOST MARY have established
300 pre-market test procedures. This includes
170 chemical analyses of e-liquids and aerosols,
98 material evaluations, and
32 device reliability tests before market launch. In May 2025 alone, they increased their testing protocols by implementing 28 new procedures addressing the chemical composition of e-liquids and materials. Regular monthly spot checks are also conducted to detect any traces of banned substances.
The companies have passed several government-run e-liquid quality controls in the UK, receiving satisfactory results, which solidifies their commitment to consumer safety and product compliance. Samuel Fu, the Director of R&D Engineering at both brands, emphasized that offering low-risk products requires continuous testing and enhancement of quality controls. Every device is designed to exceed regulatory thresholds, promoting user trust.
A Strong Patent Portfolio
Contributing to their innovative edge, ELFBAR and LOST MARY have filed over
2,200 patent applications since November 2025, with
900 granted globally. This impressive portfolio encompasses various aspects of vaping technology, from device structures and e-liquid formulations to software systems and materials. This active patenting approach fuels rapid product development and ensures that their offerings stay at the forefront of the evolving vaping landscape.
Samuel stated, "We are pioneering technologies that redefine vaping products and significantly elevate their safety standards. Our ongoing research and innovation ensure we are at the cutting edge of the industry."
