Experience the Joy of Farming in Takasaki:
Takasaki City is set to host an exciting agricultural experience event titled
"Farm Real Experience 2026 in Kurabuchi Grass Association" on July 4th, 2026, starting at 9 AM. Organized by the Gunma Pal System Cooperative, under the guidance of Chairperson Makiko Oohira, this initiative is part of the
Megurumma council's ongoing efforts to engage families in agricultural activities.
An Invitation to Nature
Families participating in this event will have the chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature while learning about the farming process from sowing seeds to harvesting. This series of events will not only promote understanding of the significance of locally sourced products but also forge connections between producers and consumers.
The first session takes place at the
Kurabuchi Grass Association field located at the western foothills of Mt. Haruna, in a semi-highland area ranging from 400 to 900 meters in altitude. Teams comprising producers, participants, and employees from Pal System Gunma will be actively engaged in various seasonal farming tasks. The initiative emphasizes the joy of cultivating vegetables while appreciating the hard work involved in farming.
Seasonal Activities and Exciting Interactions
Participants can expect a series of three events, scheduled through November, with hands-on experiences of agricultural activities during the summer and autumn months. The sessions will conclude with tastings of dishes made from the harvested seasonal vegetables. Specific details about each session are as follows:
- - 1st Session: July 4, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Teams will engage in activities like weeding, thinning, and harvesting various crops.
- - 2nd Session: September 5, 2026, featuring sowing of spring greens and turnips, along with a salad party to celebrate the harvest.
- - 3rd Session: November 28, 2026, where participants will harvest vegetables and enjoy a communal lunch featuring freshly harvested curry.
A Broader Mission for Community Engagement
Pal System Gunma, along with Megurumma, aims to provide meaningful agricultural experiences that contribute to the emotional and social growth of children. This organization runs various agricultural events throughout the year, including weeding and harvesting activities in Showa Village, and specialized programs in Isesaki City for cultivating edamame and red onions.
The initiative seeks to connect agricultural practices with educational programs, allowing participants to engage in seed sowing for corn and other crops. These activities not only promote agricultural education but also strengthen the community's ties with local food culture.
Focus on Sustainable Agriculture
The
Megurumma council, which includes Pal System Gunma and three local production areas, was established to enhance sustainable agricultural practices, healthy living, and vibrant local communities. As it celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026, three additional organizations will join as full members. The council passionately works towards promoting Gunma's rich agricultural offerings and connecting producers with consumers through various activities. By developing the
Megurumma 2035 Vision, they strive for mutual understanding and the promotion of local production for local consumption.
In conclusion, Pal System Gunma continues its mission to bridge the gap between producers and consumers while advocating for sustainable agriculture practices. Families and individuals looking to explore the wonders of farming are encouraged to take part in this unique opportunity.
