Kids In Need Foundation and 3M Mark 30 Years with New Headquarters Launch

Celebrating a Milestone: Kids In Need Foundation's New Home

August 7, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the Kids In Need Foundation (KINF) as it opens the doors to its new national headquarters and an expanded Teacher Resource Center in Little Canada, Minnesota. This momentous occasion not only highlights KINF's dedication to teachers and students but also celebrates 30 years of tireless work in the education sector, alongside a more than two-decade partnership with 3M, the event's principal sponsor.

The newly inaugurated headquarters is set to address a growing issue—many teachers around the nation find themselves purchasing classroom supplies out of their own pockets. A recent survey by KINF revealed that all participating educators reported spending their own finances on essential teaching materials, often using 1-2 paychecks a year to do so. To combat this financial strain, KINF is committed to providing free crucial supplies to educators in schools that are under-resourced.

"Teachers are spending their own money to ensure their students have what they need to succeed," expressed Corey Gordon, CEO of Kids In Need Foundation. "Our newly opened headquarters in Little Canada, made possible through partnerships with organizations like 3M, enables us to reach a larger number of teachers nationwide, offering free supplies so every student has the opportunity to learn with dignity and support."

For over 20 years, 3M has been a cornerstone partner for KINF, contributing millions of dollars in product donations. Items including classroom essentials like Post-it® Notes, Scotch™ Brand tape, and Nexcare™ Bandages are among the contributions that have directly benefitted teachers and students. Moreover, 3M employees dedicate countless hours volunteering to organize and distribute these educational resources across the country, positively impacting nearly 60,000 students and more than 2,500 teachers over the past three years alone.

Heather Green, Global Portfolio President of 3M's Consumer Business Group, highlighted the company’s commitment by stating, "3M's partnership with Kids In Need Foundation extends our pledge to support communities beyond STEM education, making a direct impact in underserved areas across the country."

The grand opening event slated from August 11 to 15, 2025, promises to be a celebration filled with activities. Attendees can look forward to a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours of the new facility, volunteer opportunities, and special events honoring over 1,000 local teachers who will have the chance to shop for supplies at the new resource center. This opening signifies a new chapter in the ongoing effort to supply teachers with necessary tools, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have access to quality education.

KINF continues to champion equal educational opportunities, distributing free resources to students and teachers in schools where a significant number of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. The foundation is determined to dismantle barriers in education, promoting a fair learning environment for all.
