Japan’s Association for Optimized Nutrition and Kumamoto City Seal Disaster Food Supply Agreement

Japan’s Association for Optimized Nutrition and Kumamoto City Seal Disaster Food Supply Agreement

On June 29, 2025, Japan's Association for Optimized Nutrition, led by Chairman Hiroshi Ito, formalized an agreement with Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, to support food procurement in emergencies. The signing ceremony took place at the city hall, where the association also provided around 2,000 meals consisting of four types of certified products to bolster disaster preparedness.

This pact aims to ensure that in the event of disasters specified under Japan's Disaster Countermeasures Basic Act, the association will supply optimized nutritional meals promptly upon the request of Hitoyoshi City. The agreement was notably timed to coincide with a memorial service for the July 2020 torrential rains, highlighting a collective commitment to improving disaster awareness and coordination.

By solidifying this partnership, both organizations are investing in enhanced mutual collaboration during regular times, ensuring that seamless and efficient disaster support can be delivered in emergencies. Recognizing the challenge of maintaining nutritional balance in daily life, the initiative emphasizes the increased risk of nutritional deficiencies in evacuation scenarios, which can significantly affect the physical and mental health of disaster victims.

Moving forward, the association is dedicated to promoting the benefits of optimized nutrition meals—not just in times of crisis but as a regular food option—to contribute to the overall well-being of individuals. These meals are designed with carefully adjusted proportions of essential nutrients tailored to meet the unique needs of different individuals based on age, gender, and lifestyle.
