USPS Unveils New 4-Cent Angel's Trumpets Stamp
On January 9, 2026, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) proudly announced the release of a new 4-cent stamp featuring the enchanting Angel's Trumpets. This latest offering adds to a collection of low-denomination flower stamps introduced in 2024, which included other delightful floral designs like the 1-cent Fringed Tulip and the 10-cent Poppies.
Celebrating a Unique Plant
The Angel's trumpet, scientifically classified as
Brugmansia, is known for its striking beauty and intoxicating scent. This semi-tropical shrub can grow to impressive heights, sometimes surpassing 20 feet in optimal conditions. Its mesmerizing trumpet-shaped flowers, which hang elegantly from the branches, can range from 6 to 24 inches long and are typically in shades of peachy-pink, white, or yellow. However, due to habitat loss, these plants are now extinct in the wild, making cultivated specimens all the more treasured by gardeners across the country.
Behind the Design
The artwork for the new stamp was conceived by acclaimed photographer Harold Davis, who utilized a unique photographic technique to create the artwork. By backlighting the flowers on a lightbox and blending multiple exposures, Davis achieved a luminous effect that highlights the delicate translucency of the petals. He meticulously arranged the four angel's trumpets so that they face upwards in a stunning display rather than their natural downward stance.
“In the right climate and location, this vigorous plant grows lavishly and produces spectacular flowers. Unfortunately, they can no longer be found in their natural habitat,” commented Davis, who cultivated the flowers in his Berkeley, California garden.
Ethel Kessler, a talented art director for USPS, took charge of the stamp's final design, incorporating Davis's photography into a breathtaking composition. The stamp provides a beautiful representation of these iconic flowers while paying homage to their limited existence in the wild.
Availability of the Stamp
Collectors and enthusiasts can now purchase the 4-cent Angel's Trumpets stamp in panes of 20 and in coils of 10,000, making them perfect for various mailing needs. The introduction of this stamp is being promoted across social media with the hashtag #AngelsTrumpetStamp, inviting more people to appreciate and collect these remarkable floral depictions.
