Recognizing Global Changemakers: The Seventh Annual .ORG Impact Awards Opens Nominations

Calling All Changemakers: Nominate for the 2025 .ORG Impact Awards

The Public Interest Registry (PIR), the nonprofit overseeing the .ORG domain, has officially announced that the nomination period for its seventh annual .ORG Impact Awards is now open. This initiative honors exceptional mission-driven individuals and organizations within the global .ORG community for their contributions that positively impact society. The commitment to recognizing such changemakers has been alive for over six years, showcasing the incredible efforts of 226 unique organizations from 87 different countries so far.

Celebrating Impact and Change

Established to provide a platform for laudable actions that drive social good, the .ORG Impact Awards have become a symbol of hope and change. CEO Jon Nevett expressed the importance of these awards, indicating that applying is more than just a nomination; it’s an entry into a global network of individuals united by the will to transform their communities. The awards serve as a reminder of the endless possibilities for change when individuals come together under shared missions.

The nominations will be open until June 4, 2025, and are available at no cost to anyone owning a .ORG domain. A judging panel comprised of leaders from the Internet, nonprofit, and marketing sectors will evaluate the applications.

Categories for Recognition

The 2025 awards introduce various categories, allowing for a more comprehensive assessment of initiatives across numerous fields. The categories include:
  • - Health and Healing
  • - Quality Education for All
  • - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • - Environmental Stewardship
  • - Hunger and Poverty
  • - Community Building
  • - Rising Star

Notably, for this edition, there’s a significant change: the age limit for applicants within the Rising Star category has been increased from 25 to 30 years, allowing a broader range of young activists to be recognized for their impactful projects. This adjustment illustrates PIR's focus on including emerging leaders who are making a difference.

Organizations have the option to apply in multiple categories if their work aligns with more than one. On August 12, 2025, top entries from each category will be announced as finalists, with the potential of being crowned the .ORG of the Year.

Award Ceremony and Prize Funds

All 35 finalists will receive a sponsored trip to Washington, D.C., where they can connect with leaders from various sectors and attend an awards ceremony featuring a surprise celebrity host on October 7, 2025. Each category winner will be granted a donation of $10,000 while the ultimate .ORG of the Year will claim a grand prize of $50,000. Furthermore, all finalists will benefit from a $2,500 donation each, empowering them to further their missions effectively.

In the past year alone, over 1,700 applicants represented their causes from numerous countries, underscoring the global reach and impact of the awards. Noteworthy past winners include the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation from the Philippines, which provides educational access to underprivileged children and emphasizes the universal right to quality education.
