A Call for Support and Peace in Gaza
As the situation in Gaza has worsened drastically over the past year, efforts to facilitate dialogue and humanitarian relief have become crucial. In light of the ongoing conflict, Accept International, an NGO based in Tokyo, has launched a new donation campaign, running from November 18, 2025, to January 31, 2026, aiming to raise 40 million yen. This initiative highlights the voices of young individuals working tirelessly in Gaza and aims to clarify how donations are utilized.
The Importance of Donations
Unlike grants or contracts, donations offer immediate and flexible financial resources that are necessary for NGO funds to address the ever-changing needs in the conflict zone. In a region where humanitarian needs are acute and resources are continuously diminishing, funding from private donors allows NGOs to operate independently from government constraints and intervene where aid is genuinely required.
This independence is a vital aspect of the social value NGOs bring to society. Encouraging citizens to participate through donations fosters a larger civil society movement that enhances the efficacy of humanitarian initiatives.
Humanitarian Crisis in Palestine
The Palestinian situation has been marred by conflict and occupation for nearly 80 years, and since October 2023, conditions have significantly deteriorated. Reports indicate that at least 69,000 lives have been lost, including over 20,000 children, due to the ongoing crisis. Despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in October 2025, sporadic attacks continue, leading to catastrophic destruction.
In the northern Gaza refugee camps, essential supplies like potable and living water are in short supply. Accept International has actively provided humanitarian support to over 14,000 individuals in these neglected areas.
Objectives of the Campaign
By garnering more donations during this campaign, Accept International seeks to amplify its impact and address pressing humanitarian needs:
1. Humanitarian Assistance in Gaza
Collaborating with local organizations, Accept International aims to deliver vital aid to refugee camps, particularly in northern Gaza, which has been declared a famine zone. Previous efforts included the distribution of critical hygiene supplies, such as soap and sanitary products, but as the situation evolves, so do the needs. For instance, with winter approaching, additional support such as blankets and winter clothing will become essential. Real-time assessments will guide the type of assistance provided, ensuring timely interventions.
2. Promoting Dialogue for Peace
In addition to immediate support, there is a pressing need for sustained dialogue aimed at achieving long-term peace. Accept International has facilitated discussions involving various Palestinian factions and young civil leaders, helping bridge divisions and fostering unity. These dialogues are crucial for engaging young Palestinians in humanitarian support efforts while also seeking a path towards peace.
Such discussions have taken place in multiple contexts, including in cities like Hiroshima and Tokyo during international meet-ups discussing the future of Gaza’s populace and the potential for lasting peace. Moving forward, it is essential to elevate the voices of more Palestinian refugees to spearhead this renewed dialogue.
Voices from Gaza
Ahmad Al-Aidi
Living in a refugee camp in Gaza for over eight years, I have engaged in myriad human rights and humanitarian activities. The ongoing occupation and humanitarian crisis profoundly affect the political engagement of young Gazans. I participate in online dialogues hosted by Accept International to show that young individuals in Gaza can be proactive in the peace process. Japan's experience with recovery after war is inspiring and reminds me of the resilience and creativity of people in dire situations.
Ashir Awartani
Hailing from the West Bank, I lead community initiatives that bring forth the desires and suffering of young Palestinians. My involvement with Accept International enables me to share our narratives authentically. I believe that amidst the genocide occurring in Gaza, fostering dialogue and solidarity among the youth is vital for manifesting change. We assert that we are not just victims of our circumstances but also agents of change for our future.
Message from Yasunari Nagai
As the representative director of Accept International, I have been involved in Palestinian advocacy for two years, and conditions remain dire. The populace's daily lives, especially in Gaza, remain challenging despite ceasefire agreements. It is paramount that Palestinians themselves craft their future. Our humanitarian support is necessary, and we must simultaneously engage in dialogues overcoming divides. Young leaders from diverse backgrounds are crucial to this initiative, and I am committed to acting as a supportive third party from Japan. I encourage all to join us in this crucial endeavor.
A Call for Donations
The efforts by Accept International hinge on the generosity of individuals. Contributions start from 1,500 yen per month, or one-time donations can be made to support our activities. Together, we can forge a precedent and drive forward the movement for peace in Palestine.
