Koshigaya City Introduces 'Kira Po' Health Points Initiative for Seniors

Supporting Community Engagement with 'Kira Po'

Koshigaya City in Saitama Prefecture is enhancing community involvement among seniors through its innovative health points initiative known as 'Kira Po'. Launched in June 2023 by Besplar, a company based in Shibuya, Tokyo, this program coincides with Dementia Awareness Month in September. The initiative rewards individuals aged 65 and older with health points for participating in physical activities and community events, including volunteering opportunities. Moreover, the program includes training on smartphone usage, bridging the gap between learning and community support for the elderly.

As of March 2026, expectations are set for a robust participation, aiming for over 2,000 seniors to become active members. The 'Kira Po' initiative encourages health management while providing a platform for social participation, nurturing a sense of belonging within the community.

Information Session on September 17

On September 17, 2026, an informative session about the 'Kira Po' program is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Koshigaya District Center. This session is designed for seniors residing in the city who own smartphones. Attendees will learn about app installation and participation application processes. The session is limited to six participants, and pre-registration is required from September 1 to 15, either through electronic application or by contacting the city's senior welfare department.

Virtual Reality Experience to Promote Understanding of Dementia on September 29

In a bid to foster a dementia-friendly environment, Koshigaya City will host a Virtual Reality (VR) experience session on September 29, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the multi-purpose hall on the first floor of the city hall’s entrance building. The session aims to deepen understanding by allowing participants to experience situations faced by individuals with dementia through VR technology. Registration is free, and each experience lasts approximately 15 minutes. Reservations are available from September 8 through phone or electronic application, with a capacity for 60 attendees. Anyone interested in learning more about dementia is encouraged to participate.

A Community that Continues to Support Each Other

Besplar is dedicated to creating opportunities for health engagement and social participation through 'Kira Po'. The program not only incentivizes healthy activities but also links various community aspects by involving volunteers who teach app usage and create learning spaces about dementia.
