Japan Coffee Journey in Shinjuku: A Celebration of Coffee Culture



This April, coffee enthusiasts are in for a treat as the first-ever Japan Coffee Journey in Shinjuku kicks off at the Odakyu Department Store. Set to run from April 8 to April 13, this event promises to enhance the local coffee culture with an extraordinary lineup of specialty roasters and interactive seminars.

The event will showcase 27 unique vendors from across Japan, representing the northern reaches of Hokkaido to the southern island of Iriomote, Okinawa. Notably, a selection of standout roasters known for their exceptional brews will gather in Shinjuku, offering guests a chance to sample the best of Japan’s coffee scene. Attendees can look forward to indulging in delightful pairings of coffee and gourmet sweets, courtesy of three dedicated dessert shops.

NODE (Hokkaido)


NODE, which means 'knot' or 'connection,' opened in Sapporo in December 2022. They curate a diverse range of specialty coffees that cater to various tastes, from coffee enthusiasts seeking premium selections to everyday drinkers. They also offer light desserts that pair perfectly with their coffee.

ULT Coffee Roasters (Osaka)


Founded by Volan Um, the 2023 World Barista Champion, ULT Coffee Roasters is located in the calm atmosphere of Kyomachibori, Osaka. This roaster features an impressive range of coffees, from rare competition-quality lots to everyday brews enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.

Days Coffee Roaster (Niigata)


This innovative coffee stand offers a unique experiential approach where guests can taste all varieties of coffee available. In 2024, they will introduce beans processed using their exclusive methods, aiming to provide an array of flavors from light to dark roasts, ensuring everyone finds their preferred brew.

ROCA Coffee Roasters (Tokyo)


ROCA combines two meanings: 'filtering' and the journey through coffee. Their mission is to bring joy to customers through coffee, assisting them in creating the perfect cup at home.

Coffee etomoiri (Okinawa)


This brand gets its name from Iriomote read in reverse. Coffee etomoiri aims to evoke memories of West Iriomote Island for its visitors, allowing them to remember the island’s natural beauty through every sip.
