Steve Reich Project Returns in 2025 with New Vigor
In 2025, the highly anticipated
Steve Reich Project, which took the world by storm in 2024, is set to return with a fresh and innovative approach. This dynamic project celebrates the 90th birthday of the iconic contemporary composer
Steve Reich, and it will feature talented percussionist
Kuniko Kato, who is not only performing but is also the driving force behind this ambitious production.
Under Kato's masterful direction, the project aims to expand its repertoire, presenting a more diverse and vibrant concert experience. Together with a talented ensemble of young percussionists, Kato and her team will delve deep into the essence of Reich's music, delivering performances that resonate with both long-time fans and new listeners alike.
Among the prominent pieces that attendees can expect to hear are Reich's monumental works such as
Drumming and
Counterpoint. Additionally, the project will showcase rare, newly arranged compositions that demonstrate the current state of modern music as the world gears up to honor Reich's birthday.
Reich's music, characterized by its intricate rhythms and harmonious overlaps, creates an experience akin to the ebb and flow of waves—a powerful force that moves the listener's emotions.
