A Move for Sustainability: Yakult Health Foods Reduces Supplement Packaging Weight

This change will see a considerable reduction in weight, with DHA&EPA DX dropping from 260 grams to 96 grams and Nattokinase Plus Fucoidan decreasing from 140 grams to 46.5 grams. Such reductions are part of Yakult's broader commitment to environmental stewardship, framed under its Yakult Group Environmental Vision, which aims to foster a society where people and the planet coexist harmoniously.

The new packaging strategy is expected to cut CO2 emissions during transportation by an impressive 59% annually for these two products combined. This value is derived from projected shipping volumes for the 2025 fiscal year. Moreover, the previous glass container format necessitated the use of multiple materials, including cartons and specialized lids, complicating waste disposal for consumers. By adopting pouch packaging, Yakult simplifies the recycling process, making it easier for consumers to dispose of their packaging responsibly.
