Foxconn Champions Space Innovation at TASTI Assembly 2024
Hon Hai Technology Group, famously known as Foxconn, has embarked on a three-day journey into the future of space science and technology, participating as a principal sponsor in the second annual Taiwan International Assembly of Space Science, Technology, and Industry (TASTI). This year's event, taking place in Taipei, marks a significant moment for Foxconn as it unveils its satellite operational technologies for the first time, with an emphasis on its latest satellite developments and the industry’s supply chain.
Advancing Communication Technologies
At TASTI 2024, Foxconn aims to spotlight next-generation space communications, striving for high coverage, exceptional reliability, dense connectivity, and minimal latency. This ambition was articulated by Dr. Jen-Ming Wu, a key figure in the assembly and a director at the Next-Generation Communications Research Center, who emphasized the importance of establishing a complete ecosystem for the satellite industry through strong collaborations with industrial partners.
Jesse Chao, a senior director within Foxconn’s B5G policy group, echoed this commitment, asserting the company's support for cultivating an expansive spatial ecosystem from Taiwan to the global arena. His involvement in roundtable discussions will address public-private partnerships, showcasing the industry's collaborative spirit.
Showcasing CubeSat Innovations
Among the highlights of Foxconn’s participation is a life-size model of its successful CubeSat platform, PEARL, which was launched last year. The company plans to engage attendees on various operational technologies, including solar tracking mode, stable three-axis control, and Earth observation capabilities. Additionally, Foxconn will demonstrate its unique ability to compensate for Doppler frequency shifts during bidirectional communications, providing insights into real-world data analysis in outer space environments.
Foxconn aims to showcase innovations arising from collaborations with other industry leaders, displaying a user terminal for low Earth orbit satellites developed by FIH Mobile Ltd. and SHARP Corp, as well as a camera module for Earth observation from its subsidiary, Rayprus Holding Ltd. These products highlight the intersection of cutting-edge technology and resilient design, showcasing Foxconn’s prowess in satellite communications.
Collaboration with Key Technology Partners
In a collaborative effort, Foxconn’s technology partner MediaTek Inc. will present its Software Defined Radio (SDR) chip designed to support Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN). Furthermore, the American company Antaris will introduce its innovative software platform designed specifically for space missions, emphasizing the importance of software in the future of space exploration.
