Exciting Plans Unveiled for Pickleball Courts at Black Desert Resort in Utah

Black Desert Resort's New Pickleball Initiative

Black Desert Resort, located in the picturesque Southern Utah region, is set to elevate the world of pickleball with the introduction of 21 state-of-the-art courts scheduled to open in Spring 2026. With pickleball's popularity skyrocketing, this resort will not only cater to enthusiasts but will also act as a hub for professional competitions.

A First-Class Pickleball Experience

These new courts will range from casual play environments to a Championship Court that can accommodate 1,000 spectators. Designed by Swabeck Architecture, the courts will harmonize with the stunning natural landscape, which includes the famous red rocks and lava fields of the region, creating an unparalleled atmosphere for gameplay.

Moreover, the facilities will be equipped with advanced technology for swing and movement analysis, as well as ball tracking, ensuring accuracy during tournaments. Players will benefit from comfortable heated and misted cabanas, VIP seating, and ample space for both competitive and recreational matches.

Partnership with Professional Pickleball Association

Black Desert Resort will also collaborate with the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) and Greater Zion to host the Greater Zion Cup in 2026. This event is set to become one of the premier tournaments on the PPA Tour, attracting top talent from around the world. The Cup offers an impressive 1,500 ranking points for players, making it essential for those looking to enhance their standings in the competitive global circuit.

Patrick Manning, the resort's managing partner, emphasizes the importance of this initiative for the local community, stating, "The pickleball courts are part of our broader mission to support the local economy by attracting visitors, creating jobs, and driving regional tourism." This partnership aims to not only bolster the resort's reputation as a leading destination but also help foster connections within the community.

An Ideal Setting for a Growing Sport

As one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, pickleball's integration into Black Desert Resort symbolizes a commitment to enhancing Southern Utah's appeal for sports and recreation. Connor Pardoe, the CEO of the Carvana PPA Tour, expressed his excitement about introducing the tournament to this stunning region, highlighting the opportunity to showcase the event to passionate pickleball fans in the area.

Black Desert Resort has also made substantial investments in luxury accommodations, recently completing its resort center that features 447 guest rooms, multiple dining venues, a luxurious spa, and recreational amenities. The resort ensures a high-quality experience for guests and players alike, aligning perfectly with the introduction of the pickleball facilities.

The Greater Zion Cup will not only spotlight pickleball but will also position Southern Utah prominently on the global sports map. Brittany McMichael, director of Greater Zion, stated that this new facility will serve as a world-class venue, contributing to the region's reputation for hosting significant sporting events.

As the countdown to Spring 2026 begins, both the community and visitors can look forward to an exceptional pickleball experience at the Black Desert Resort, enriching local tourism and promoting an engaging sports culture that appeals to enthusiasts at all levels.
