BLUETTI and UN-Habitat's Partnership Expands Clean Energy in Nigeria

Clean Energy Initiative by BLUETTI and UN-Habitat in Nigeria

On September 7-10, 2026, BLUETTI, a global leader in clean energy solutions, and UN-Habitat launched their second joint initiative in Nigeria as part of the ongoing program titled "Lighting African Families" (LAAF). This project aims to provide eco-friendly energy solutions to underprivileged communities across Africa. Following their successful collaboration in Kenya in 2025, this program's expansion signifies a continued commitment to improving the livelihoods of disadvantaged populations.

During this initiative, a two-day solar energy workshop was held at Rev. Fr. Orshio Adasu University in Makurdi, focused on basic solar energy concepts and practical applications. As part of the educational outreach, BLUETTI donated 50 sets of solar lighting and PB200 storage systems to facilitate hands-on learning. Moreover, BLUETTI launched its Campus Ambassador Program to promote clean energy awareness on campus and within surrounding communities.

The initiative also extended its reach to Yelwatu, a local community in Guma where access to reliable electricity remains severely limited. BLUETTI contributed an additional 180 solar lighting sets, specifically targeting households led by women or the elderly. This endeavor benefited over 1,000 residents, providing safer and more reliable electricity for daily use. Consequently, the improved energy access enhances living conditions, fosters greater educational opportunities, and supports community development.

James Ray, a spokesperson for BLUETTI, expressed pride in the collaboration with UN-Habitat, stating, "Our initiative has expanded from East Africa to West Africa, reflecting our shared commitment to improving access to clean energy across various communities in Africa." To date, the LAAF initiative has positively impacted more than 60,000 individuals across the continent. The partnership aims to continue introducing clean energy solutions to more African nations, generating broader social and environmental benefits.

In line with these efforts, there is an expected reduction of approximately 337.5 tons of carbon emissions over five years, contributing to more resilient communities and sustainable development for all.
