Mila-bo Launches Digital Health Check Service in Okinawa
In a groundbreaking initiative, Mila-bo Inc., a Tokyo-based company specializing in digital services for municipalities, has launched the 'mila-e checkup' digital questionnaire service in Nakagusuku Village, Okinawa. This service, in collaboration with the Okinawa Prefectural Pediatric Health Association, aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of infant health checks. The operation of this service will begin in July 2026, covering both early and late infant general health checks.
Background of the 'mila-e checkup' Service
The partnership between Mila-bo and the Okinawa Prefectural Pediatric Health Association was formalized in May 2025 through a collaborative agreement focusing on promoting digital questionnaires. The association emphasizes its mission: "Empowering all children with strength and dreams", and has been dedicated to the healthy development of children in Okinawa. This includes managing health check projects across 39 municipalities in the prefecture. Through this collaboration, Mila-bo aims to achieve improved quality in infant health checks while reducing the workload for parents and healthcare workers.
The introduction of 'mila-e checkup' is supported by national subsidies focused on maternal and child health, with Nakagusuku Village being the first to utilize this digital service for health checks. By implementing this system, the local government seeks to streamline data management related to health checks and ensure efficient utilization of health information among municipalities.
Challenges Prior to the New System
Previously, the Nakagusuku Village relied on paper questionnaires provided by the Okinawa Prefectural Pediatric Health Association, which posed several challenges. Parents had to complete these forms by hand, often leading to errors and delays in updating health check records in the system.
Benefits of the 'mila-e checkup'
With 'mila-e checkup', parents can conveniently input and submit health questionnaire information via their smartphones. After the check, parents can easily access the results through the 'mila-e Oyako Handbook' app, eliminating the need for manual data entry. Moreover, municipalities and the Okinawa Prefectural Pediatric Health Association can access health records online, promoting data utilization and collaboration.
In partnership with the Okinawa Prefectural Pediatric Health Association, Mila-bo plans to expand the range of health checks offered and introduce this innovative solution to other municipalities in the prefecture.
Future Prospects
Mila-bo is committed to enhancing health services in Okinawa through the continued development of the 'mila-e checkup' system. By leveraging technology and collaborating with local health authorities, the company envisions a future where comprehensive health care for children is more accessible and efficient.
The 'mila-e checkup' service is not just a technical solution but a step towards creating a more robust health care framework for children across Okinawa. Through this initiative, Mila-bo aims to contribute to the well-being of the community, aligning with its mission of fostering innovation for a better tomorrow.
