ANZ KANIE New Works Exhibition 2026
Art enthusiasts and curious visitors are invited to the much-anticipated new exhibition of artist Anz Kanie, showcasing around 60 new pieces of artwork. This exciting event, titled
ANZ KANIE New Works EXHIBITION 2026, will take place at the
Artglorieux GALLERY OF TOKYO, located on the 5th floor of GINZA SIX, from
June 4 to June 10, 2026. The gallery will be open daily from
10:30 AM to 8:30 PM, with the final day's hours ending at
6:00 PM.
In her latest creations, Anz Kanie explores the dichotomies of day and night, light and shadow, reality and dreams. She captures the emotions and landscapes that exist in the delicate balance of these oppositions, illustrating how they influence the human experience. Each piece serves as a visual poetry that invites viewers to contemplate the nuanced transitions found in everyday life.
Among the notable works to be displayed are:
- - “Daydream” (720×1000mm) featuring drypoint, hand coloring, and collage.
- - “Darkness Flare” (840×700mm) showcasing the same techniques, highlighting the contrast of darkness infused with vibrant colors.
- - “Juggling and Horse” (F15, acrylic on canvas) that reflects an imaginative narrative.
- - “Garden Without Words” (550×710mm) using drypoint, hand coloring, and collage, offering a serene visual experience.
- - “Outside the Window” (F15, acrylic on canvas) that evokes a sense of longing and reflection.
Meet Anz Kanie
Anz Kanie, both a painter and a writer, hails from Tokyo and is an esteemed member of the Japan PEN Club. She serves as the chairperson of the NPO 3.11 Children’s Library and graduated from Jiyu no Mori Gakuen. Kanie has honed her craft in printmaking while studying in London. Over the years, she has held numerous solo exhibitions in museums, department stores, and galleries across Japan. Anz has also made significant contributions to literature, authoring novels, picture books, and essays.
In 2022, Kanie collaborated with Toyota to design graphics for the “MIRAI” wrapping car and has worked with several organizations including BMW Japan and JTA (Japan Transocean Air) on artistic projects. After the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, she dedicated her efforts to deliver picture books and art supplies to affected children and established the “Niji Library” in Soma City, Fukushima. Through her role as a coordinator for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's disaster recovery project, she bridges children with art nationwide.
Kanie's impactful activities in post-disaster zones have been documented in the NHK BS1 Special titled “The Promise of Year Ten - Children of Fukushima Drawing the Future.” Her contributions led to special recognition with a jury award at the Pen Creator Awards 2021, celebrating those who shine in changing Japan and the world.
In 2023, her picture book
“Hana Loves Snakes” won the
14th Kindergarten Picture Book Award and was shortlisted for the 27th Japan Picture Book Award. Upcoming works include **
