Stagwell and Mallorca Foundation Launch Responsible Tourism Campaign to Protect the Island's Ecosystem

Stagwell and Mallorca Foundation Team Up for Eco-Responsibility

In an exemplary initiative, Stagwell, a challenger network taking aim at transforming marketing, in collaboration with the Mallorca Preservation Foundation, is launching a compelling campaign focused on promoting responsible tourism on the beautiful island of Mallorca. This campaign is designed to not only raise awareness but also foster sustainable practices among tourists and locals alike, encouraging everyone to play their part in conserving Mallorca's unique natural environment.

Campaign Overview

The core of the campaign revolves around three pivotal messages aimed at instilling sustainable habits among visitors: 1) consuming local products, 2) using reusable water bottles, and 3) opting for bicycles over cars for transportation. This strategy aligns perfectly with the increasing global emphasis on eco-friendly practices, and represents a direct call to action for both tourists and residents.

The campaign took off with a variety of outdoor advertising measures, running throughout September, supported by significant local partners including Apaema Agricultura Ecològica, Cleanwave Foundation, and Malla Publicidad. Through these collaborations, the foundation has laid out the groundwork for a future where sustainable tourism habits are a norm, rather than a rarity.

Insights from Stakeholders

Ana Riera, the Executive Director of the Mallorca Preservation Foundation, highlights the importance of integrating sustainable habits into everyday life, which is essential for creating a positive environmental impact. “Changing certain habits and incorporating small gestures into our daily routines—like consuming local products, drinking from a reusable bottle, or cycling into town—has a real, positive effect on our environment,” she stated. The essence of the campaign is to deliver this message in a straightforward yet appealing manner, providing practical tools for implementation such as maps indicating local product outlets and water refill stations.

Adding to this, Nicola Rovetta, Creative Director at Stagwell Italy, shed light on the campaign's messaging, which cleverly plays on the familiar refrain of “Eat, Drink, Repeat.” This catchy tagline serves as a vibrant and impactful call to action, encouraging sustainable behaviors while firmly emphasizing the necessity of preserving the natural environment of Mallorca for future generations.

As tourists flock to the island looking for sun and leisure, it’s pivotal that they also embrace the responsibility that comes with visiting such a rich ecological community. By shifting their mindset towards sustainability, they can contribute positively to the local ecology, thus ensuring that Mallorca remains a paradise for future travelers.
