AlUla Development Company Advances With NUMAJ Project

On April 20, 2026, the AlUla Development Company (UDC), affiliated with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), announced the official groundbreaking for the NUMAJ Hotel. This marks a significant step in the ongoing evolution of AlUla, a region rich in heritage and natural beauty, striving to establish itself as a global tourism hub. The launch ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including UDC's Managing Director John Pagano and Abeer AlAkel, CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU).

During the site visit, Pagano expressed enthusiasm for the NUMAJ project, highlighting it as a vital part of UDC's development agenda. He stated, "NUMAJ represents a substantial advancement in our execution program. As we move into construction, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality projects ready for investment, enhancing AlUla's stature as a leading global destination and vibrant community." This transition from concept to execution sets the stage for NUMAJ to become a high-caliber asset in UDC's portfolio.

NUMAJ will comprise 250 guest accommodations and is anticipated to welcome its first visitors in 2027. The hotel will be operated under the Autograph Collection brand by Marriott International, showcasing a blend of luxury, culture, and sustainability. Designed by GioForma, the architecture of NUMAJ draws inspiration from AlUla's distinctive landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and celestial history. The name itself, “NUMAJ,” pays homage to the Nu Ursae Majoris star system, which historically guided ancient travelers, thereby connecting the past with the present.

The design philosophy incorporates elements of discovery, light, and a profound connection to nature, promising a hospitality experience that is both refined and culturally immersive. Guests can expect elegantly designed spaces that exhibit AlUla's identity, complemented by a suite of amenities including five dining venues, wellness facilities, and integrated business and leisure offerings.

Sustainability is at the heart of the NUMAJ project, with the aim to achieve LEED Gold certification. This commitment is demonstrated through environmentally-friendly practices such as the reuse of greywater for irrigation, the use of locally sourced materials, UV-resistant glazing, water-efficient landscaping, and energy-efficient lighting. Such initiatives adhere to AlUla's star-lit sky policy, ensuring that development harmonizes with the natural environment.

The NUMAJ hotel is a key component of UDC's expanding portfolio, designed to enhance AlUla's reputation as a must-visit location.
