A Fun Collaboration Between Traffic Laws and Learning: The Unique Drill Book by Bunkyosha and Neyagawa Driving School

A Fun Collaboration Between Traffic Laws and Learning

In an innovative educational leap, Bunkyosha Co. (headquartered in Minato, Tokyo) has teamed up with Neyagawa Driving School (based in Neyagawa, Osaka) to produce a light-hearted drill book titled "The Most Fun Traffic Laws Drill Book: Unko Drill Road Traffic Laws." This collaboration aims to make learning about traffic regulations enjoyable for both children and adults alike.

The drill book tackles fundamental questions related to traffic laws such as, "Is a bicycle considered a vehicle?" and "What types of traffic signs exist?" The engaging format uses humor through quizzes and illustrations featuring poop, transforming what could be a mundane topic into an entertaining learning experience.

As society witnesses a growing trend among the youth distancing from cars, coupled with the increase in electric kickboards that do not require a license, a decrease in opportunities to learn traffic rules and a waning interest in road safety has raised concerns. These issues directly contribute to traffic accidents and public safety risks, highlighting the urgent need for raising awareness on the correct knowledge of traffic laws and enhancing traffic safety education.

In response to these challenges, Neyagawa Driving School sought to collaborate with the immensely popular "Unko Drill" series, which has sold over 10 million copies, especially among elementary school children. This partnership resulted in the creation of the "Unko Drill: Road Traffic Laws," designed to provide a fun and familiar way to learn about traffic regulations.

The introduction of the drill book features the renowned character "Unko Sensei" engaging with the Unko Cats, posing questions about traffic laws. The narrative progresses through quizzes led by this character, incorporating humorous options such as "poop with wheels" or "a 'no poop' sign!" to evoke smiles while presenting usually serious content in a more approachable manner. Additionally, specialized knowledge such as the classification of bicycles as light vehicles and the meanings of various traffic restriction signs is comprehensively yet simply explained.

Each double-page spread includes real-life scenarios under the guidance of trained driving instructors, simulating questions reflective of actual license examination content. This element ensures that new learners are equipped with foundational knowledge, while also providing a refresher for those who may already possess a license, prompting them to recall forgotten rules or the meanings of signs.

Neyagawa Driving School plans to integrate this drill book into their traffic safety events and workshops, providing it during classes to stimulate interest in learning about road safety.

Bunkyosha remains committed to delivering important educational content aimed towards nurturing healthy and enriched lives by sharing vital knowledge for living.
