Smart Compost® Begins Long-Term Testing at Shinagawa Season Terrace
In a significant step towards sustainable urban waste management, Komham Inc., headquartered in Sapporo, has officially commenced long-term operational tests of its innovative Smart Compost® system at the Shinagawa Season Terrace in collaboration with NTT Urban Solutions Research Institute. This initiative is a follow-up to a successful proof-of-concept conducted in the summer of 2025, aimed at refining the waste management process in urban facilities through an expanded verification phase.
Objectives of the Initiative
Over the next six months, the project will focus on three primary objectives: 1) verifying the stability of waste processing during long-term operations; 2) assessing the efficiency and workload of daily operations; and 3) optimizing the operational system in preparation for full-scale implementation. This testing period is designed to ensure the practicality and long-term reliability of resource recycling models in urban environments.
