O'Shaughnessy Ventures Awards Fellowship to Advocate for Fair Drug Pricing
O'Shaughnessy Ventures Awards Fellowship to Eric Pachman
O'Shaughnessy Ventures LLC (OSV), known for supporting innovative creators, has awarded its prestigious fellowship to Eric Pachman, a data analyst and advocate from Dayton, Ohio. This fellowship marks a significant step towards empowering data accessibility in the realms of journalism and community activism.
Eric Pachman is the founder of Data 4 The People (D4TP), an organization he established in 2025 to provide data analysis services to those typically left out by conventional systems. His commitment to democratizing data stems from his own experiences while managing a community pharmacy chain, where he witnessed firsthand the complexities and dysfunctions of the U.S. drug pricing system. This inspired him to create effective tools for uncovering critical information through data.
The fellowship will enable Pachman to expand the initiatives of D4TP, which focuses on making research and data-driven insights more attainable for grassroots organizations, local journalists, and communities. Given that industry-standard commissioned research is often slow and financially prohibitive, Pachman aims to streamline these processes with artificial intelligence, providing quicker and more affordable access to crucial information.
Pachman’s plan includes three principal areas of focus over the next year: rescuing valuable public datasets that are at risk of being lost, training AI models on D4TP's unique analytical methods to enhance efficiency, and forging partnerships with local news outlets that face financial barriers in developing the data infrastructure necessary for community journalism.
With a background in chemical engineering from the University of Florida and an MBA from Harvard Business School, Pachman has been instrumental in several projects aimed at improving healthcare efficiency. He co-founded 46brooklyn Research, a nonprofit that employs data visualization to expose the flaws in the drug pricing system. His work has also significantly impacted Ohio's Medicaid program, revealing nearly $225 million in discrepancies related to pharmacy benefit manager spread pricing.
The founder and CEO of OSV, Jim O'Shaughnessy, expressed pride in Pachman’s accomplishments: “Eric has already shown what one person with the right data can accomplish. We're delighted to support his effort in empowering more people with the ability to analyze data effectively.” Pachman himself stated, “I've spent a decade trying to change the narrative surrounding data. This fellowship provides the resources to help people utilize data to gain insights into various perspectives.”
The O'Shaughnessy Fellowship program, launched in 2023, aims to empower the boldest thinkers and innovators across various fields. Selected fellows receive grants of up to $100,000 and access to a network of industry leaders. By 2026, OSV hopes to distribute up to 20 fellowships.
Pachman is the seventh fellow announced for the 2026 cohort. His work is not only commendable but indicative of a larger trend towards empowering data-driven communities that prioritize transparency and inclusivity.
For those looking to apply for the O'Shaughnessy Fellowships, applications will reopen on January 1, 2027. Further details are available on OSV's official website. As O'Shaughnessy Ventures continues to nurture innovations that can bring about societal change, aspiring creators and researchers are encouraged to engage with this transformative program.
