Pertamina International Shipping Unveils Global Growth Strategy at Posidonia 2026

Pertamina International Shipping: A Major Player in Global Maritime Growth

On June 5, 2026, PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), the integrated maritime logistics subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero), took center stage at Posidonia 2026, one of the maritime industry's most influential exhibitions. In a move designed to assert Indonesia's growing maritime capabilities, PIS presented its ambitious global growth plans aimed at positioning the company as a leading player in the international shipping and logistics sector.

President Director of PIS, Surya Tri Harto, addressed a diverse audience composed of international maritime stakeholders, shipowners, investors, and industry leaders during the event. He emphasized PIS's vision to become a comprehensive integrated maritime service provider while outlining the strategic roadmap of the company in light of global industry trends.

In collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Athens, PIS organized a forum titled "Global Outreach: Navigating Indonesia's Shipping and Maritime Industry." This forum gathered key players from around the globe to explore opportunities within Indonesia's rapidly evolving maritime sector. The session featured remarks from Dr. Bebeb A.K. Nugraha Djundjunan, Indonesia's ambassador to Greece, who focused on the strategic importance of Indonesia as the world's largest archipelagic nation and a crucial maritime hub in Asia.

Ambassador Djundjunan highlighted the myriad investment opportunities that exist within Indonesia’s shipping industry, including maritime transport, port development, logistics, shipbuilding, fisheries, offshore energy, and blue economy initiatives. He pointed out the essential role that Indonesia's primary ports play in enhancing regional and global trade connections. A major theme of the discussions was the strengthening of links between Indonesia, ASEAN, Greece, and Europe through an integrated sea-land-rail logistics framework designed to support resilient global trading routes.

Furthermore, Surya Tri Harto introduced PIS’s long-term strategic framework called ‘S4GO’. This strategy aims to transform PIS into a key player in the maritime and logistics sector by bolstering its core shipping operations, enhancing third-party cargo transport services, and modernizing its fleet with eco-designed vessels. Additionally, PIS is accelerating its global expansion through strategic partnerships and establishing commercial presences in key international markets.

One of the notable goals of the S4GO plan is to diversify PIS’s offshore operations by including floating energy infrastructures such as Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) units, Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units, and Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) units. This aligns with PIS’s commitment to sustainability, which emphasizes the adoption of bio-fuel solutions, non-fossil fuel sourcing, and the modernization of terminals.

Currently, PIS operates across 65 international routes with a fleet of 63 vessels, effectively leveraging Indonesia's geographical advantages. The company’s operations span five major sectors: maritime transport, maritime services, port activities, asset ownership, and logistics.

Surya Tri Harto concluded his address by underlining PIS's intention to fortify its role as a regional leader in maritime and logistics, aiming to connect Indonesia with significant global markets. He reaffirmed PIS's commitment to solidifying Indonesia's standing within the global maritime ecosystem.

In parallel with Posidonia 2026, PIS also engaged in strategic business initiatives with leading international maritime companies to explore potential collaborations, operational excellence, and the development of maritime services.

As PIS moves forward with its strategic ambitions, the company is poised to play an increasingly critical role in shaping the future of maritime logistics not only in Indonesia but across the wider global landscape.
