TECNO and Lonely Planet Present Shot On CAMON Contest 2026
TECNO, the innovative technology brand known for its AI capabilities, is back with its annual global photography competition, the Shot On CAMON Contest 2026. This year, TECNO has partnered with Lonely Planet, the leading travel guide company, to celebrate the beauty of real-life moments through photography. This collaboration emphasizes the art and storytelling behind photography, encouraging participants to capture authentic experiences from their travels and daily lives under the theme, 'Seeing is Believing.'
Scheduled to run from May 15 to October 11, 2026, the contest invites smartphone enthusiasts worldwide to showcase their photography skills using the lot's latest CAMON 50 Series. The theme is particularly poignant in a world increasingly influenced by technology, emphasizing the importance of genuine observation and expression in capturing life’s fleeting moments.
Contest Overview
Five Creative Categories
To inspire creativity and engagement, the contest is divided into five distinct categories:
1. Faces • Unfiltered: This category invites participants to capture unembellished portraits that present people in their true selves, highlighting diversity and individuality.
2. Night • Unveiled: Contestants are encouraged to explore the mysteries and emotions of nighttime environments, revealing the beauty of city lights, moonlit scenes, and quiet moments.
3. Culture • Unscripted: This category focuses on unscripted cultural experiences, from spontaneous interactions in local markets to the vibrancy of festivals.
4. Snapshot • Unspotted: Participants will capture hidden details and intimate moments that often go unnoticed, providing fresh perspectives on everyday sights.
5. AI • Unimagined: In this category, entrants will start with a real photograph taken on a TECNO device and then creatively alter it using the AI features of the CAMON 50 Series.
Judging and Expertise
The contest will feature a panel of experts, including three photographers from Lonely Planet and TECNO's imaging team, ensuring a comprehensive and constructive judging process. Melissa Killian, Vice President of Integrated Marketing at Lonely Planet, shared insights on the essence of capturing photos, stating, “Great photos are not just about equipment; they encompass how deeply a photographer immerses themselves in a destination.” This ethos resonates throughout the contest as it champions authentic storytelling through the lens.
Prizes and Achievements
To encourage participation and recognize creativity, TECNO will offer substantial rewards including cash prizes and travel incentives. The most distinguished photographer will earn the TECNO Photography Master prize valued at $8,000, while additional cash prizes will be awarded to the Top 5 Gold ($3,000 each), Silver ($2,000 each), and Bronze winners ($1,000 each).
