S.RIDE Taxi App Expands in Sendai Area
On November 17, 2025, S.RIDE Inc., headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, officially launched its taxi app service, S.RIDE, with a fleet of 116 vehicles from Sendai Central Taxi Co., Ltd. This integration is the result of collaboration between S.RIDE and Denno Kotsu Co., which provides the dispatch system known as "DS." With this new launch, the taxi app aims to significantly improve the convenience of transportation in the Sendai area, which is a vital hub for economic, administrative, and tourism activities in the Tohoku region.
Meeting Diverse Transportation Needs
Sendai is recognized as the center of commerce, government, and tourism in northeastern Japan, and consequently, there is a wide variety of transportation needs, including commuting, school runs, tourism, and business trips. Since starting its services in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture in 2023, S.RIDE has been expanding its footprint, including recent service expansions in Shiogama and Tagajo City in July 2025. Just last month, in October 2025, the number of rides dispatched via the S.RIDE app in the Miyagi region surged by approximately 145% compared to the previous year, showcasing the growing acceptance of the service among locals.
With the recent addition of Sendai Central Taxi’s fleet, the number of S.RIDE-equipped taxis in Miyagi Prefecture now exceeds 350, representing an increase of roughly 1.5 times since before the integration. This augmentation is expected to provide a stable dispatch environment, especially during peak tourism seasons and events, thus enhancing the overall travel experience for users.
