TDY Remodelling Design Award 2026: Boosting Creativity in the Renovation Market

TDY, an alliance formed by TOTO, DAIKEN, and YKK AP, has officially kicked off the submission process for the prestigious "TDY Remodelling Design Award 2026" starting from July 1. As the award enters its 42nd year, it continues to serve as a platform for architects, construction firms, and renovation companies across the nation to showcase exceptional design and innovative ideas that can revitalize the renovation market.

The main goal of the award is to encourage creativity and enhance the industry by inviting participants to submit their remarkable remodelling projects. A panel of three judges, comprised of architects and editors from home information websites, will evaluate the submitted designs. Several categories, including the coveted National Grand Prize and Excellence Awards, will be awarded alongside recognition for large-scale and space-specific remodels. In total, the panel will select 76 exemplary designs this year.

In a special twist for the 2024 awards, the TDY has introduced a customer voting category. Here, the entries will be showcased on a dedicated page, allowing the public to vote for their favorites. The top ten designs with the most votes will be declared winners. The final results of this prestigious contest will be announced in January 2027.

Unveiling the Concept: “Ten People, Ten Homes”

Emphasizing the belief that each individual's lifestyle is unique, the awards are centered around the theme, “Ten People, Ten Homes.” This concept signifies that with every ten people, there exist ten different aspirations and preferences for living spaces. TDY aims to provide remodelling solutions that resonate with various lifestyles, ensuring that each design is not just a renovation but a step towards achieving one’s dream living space.

Heralding the National Grand Prize was a stunning project entitled "Luxurious Living for Myself - Balancing Mind and Body" completed by Toivo Corporation, located in Saitama. The innovative remodelling of a 35-year-old condominium addressed the challenges of summer heat and winter cold through advanced insulation methods, ensuring comfort in every room. The transformation was so successful that residents can now enjoy breathtaking views from the corner unit on a high floor while feeling like they are stepping into a luxurious hotel room.

For those interested in participating, the following guidelines must be adhered to:

- The submission must be a remodelling project designed or executed by the applicant and specific to the needs of the homeowners.
- The renovation should have been completed after October 1, 2025, utilizing TOTO, DAIKEN, or YKK AP products.
- All submissions must comply with relevant laws and regulations, including building codes.
