Introducing the New Migaki Strawberry Cream Bread Promoting Sustainable Agriculture

Launch of the New Migaki Strawberry Cream Bread

On March 1, 2026, Hattendo Co., Ltd., headquartered in Mihara City, Hiroshima, will unveil a new product: the "Migaki Strawberry Cream Bread." This innovative item results from a collaboration between Mynavi Agriculture, a comprehensive agricultural information platform, and Plan・Do・See, under a partnership agreement aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture.

The project focuses on utilizing irregularly shaped or short-shelf-life, high-quality fruits that usually don’t make it to market. By transforming these fruits into delicious cream bread, we aim to cultivate awareness about sustainable agriculture through consumer choices. The first product offering featured cream bread filled with high-quality paste derived from "Tamba Chestnuts" from Hyogo Prefecture, released in September. Following this, the second installment will spotlight a jam made from the "Migaki Strawberry" sourced from Miyagi Prefecture.

What is Migaki Strawberry?

Migaki Strawberry is not a specific variety but a brand representing the careful selection of multiple top-quality strawberry varieties cultivated in Yamamoto Town, Miyagi Prefecture. This selection process considers ripeness, shape, size, and any minor harvesting blemishes while regularly checking sugar content to ensure high quality. The ingredients for the jam are supplied by GRA Co., Ltd., which focuses on enhancing the future value of agriculture through various initiatives. The jam’s flavor retains the essence of the strawberries, allowing for a rich taste experience, complemented by a simple milk cream layer to create a delightful two-layered treat.

  • - Past Initiatives by Hattendo: We have consistently aimed to bolster local tourism and revitalization through unique offerings, such as the "Local Hometown Cream Bread Series" which showcases regional specialties and engages with the food supply chain sustainably.
