New Facility Marks a Significant Milestone
Kyushu Sanko Transport Co., a subsidiary of Hongike Transport Co., has begun operations at its newly established temperature-controlled distribution center in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture. This facility represents a significant advancement in the company's logistical capabilities, particularly for specialized industries such as pharmaceuticals and semiconductor manufacturing.
Location and Design Features
The distribution center is strategically located just 0.5 kilometers from the Tosu Interchange, offering exceptional access to major transport routes throughout Kyushu. Covering a substantial area of 31,336 square meters (excluding office spaces), the facility features a four-story steel-structured warehouse specifically designed to accommodate various storage needs. It is equipped with a total of 36 loading bays, which enhances operational efficiency during loading and unloading processes.
In addition to its temperature-controlled and refrigerated storage capabilities, the center includes a separate hazardous materials storage unit, underscoring its commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards. Furthermore, features such as a solar power generation system and an emergency generator provide robust backup solutions vital for business continuity plans (BCP).
Cutting-edge Compliance and Safety
The facility adheres to the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines, ensuring optimal temperature regulation, comprehensive security measures, and effective pest control. For enhanced safety, safety devices are installed at warehouse entry and exit points, further fortifying operational security.
Consolidation of Operations
With the opening of the Tosu Temperature-Controlled Distribution Center, Kyushu Sanko Transport will gradually consolidate operations from three existing sites in the region: the Chūkyū Center, the former Tosu Center, and the Tosu Container Business Office, ultimately fostering greater logistical efficiency.
Future Prospects
The center is anticipated to not only bolster Kyushu Sanko Transport's logistics services across the Kyushu region but also enhance connectivity with the burgeoning semiconductor industry in the Kumamoto urban area. This strategic move aligns with the company's goals to stay ahead of industry trends and cater to the evolving demands of clients within critical sectors.
Scheduled to be officially operational on April 6, 2026, and set to be fully completed by March 31 of the same year, the Tosu Temperature-Controlled Distribution Center is poised to play a crucial role in the growth and efficiency of logistics in this vital region.
