Clé de Peau Beauté Strengthens Partnership with UNICEF to Empower 7.3 Million Girls

Clé de Peau Beauté Renews Partnership with UNICEF to Empower 7.3 Million Girls

Clé de Peau Beauté, the luxury skincare and cosmetics brand, proudly announces the renewal of its global partnership with UNICEF, launching a new phase aimed at empowering 7.3 million girls worldwide. This initiative, which holds a significant funding commitment of $17.4 million since 2019, marks the largest contribution from the private sector to UNICEF's global gender equality program. The successful collaboration has already transformed the lives of over 12.9 million girls, exceeding initial expectations and creating a pathway for positive change.

Expanding Horizons with STEAM

With this renewed partnership, the focus will not only continue to address the critical field of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) but will also broaden to include STEAM—adding art into the mix. This innovative approach integrates creativity with technological education, empowering young girls to harness their full potential. For instance, in Indonesia, participating girls are blending scientific knowledge with artistic expression, developing innovative solutions to enhance resilience against climate change.

Naomi Kawanishi, the global brand president of Clé de Peau Beauté, emphasized the meaningful impact this partnership has had on young girls' lives. She stated, “It’s incredibly fulfilling to see how this partnership has inspired girls to build confidence, creativity, and open doors to new opportunities for their future. Our renewed commitment especially highlights our focus on STEAM, which provides girls with technical skills and creative confidence to become true innovators.”

A Significant Contribution to Gender Equality

The initiative builds on robust foundations of effective programs that utilize innovative educational strategies to offer a range of opportunities for girls. Carla Haddad Mardini, Director of Fundraising and Private Sector Partnerships at UNICEF, welcomed Clé de Peau Beauté’s ongoing leadership in gender equality and its deep commitment to uplifting girls. “The renewed partnership with an enhanced focus on building essential STEAM skills represents a powerful investment in girls as key drivers for our future,” she stated.

Addressing Ongoing Challenges

The announcement comes at a critical time, as girls globally continue to face significant barriers to education and skill development. Currently, 122 million girls are not enrolled in school, while nearly 40% of adolescent girls and young women are unable to complete secondary education. Moreover, girls are underrepresented in STEM fields, comprising just 35% of STEM graduates and only 3% of graduates in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Nearly 50 million girls lack basic literacy skills, and in low-income countries, around 90% of girls remain offline, limiting their access to educational resources and opportunities.

These challenges stem from overlapping barriers, including harmful gender norms, child marriages, and unpaid caregiving responsibilities. This underscores the urgent need for sustained investments and gender-sensitive approaches that enable girls to acquire the skills and opportunities essential for building their futures.

Through this renewed collaboration, Clé de Peau Beauté and UNICEF will continue to work together to broaden opportunities for girls globally, supporting the next generation in realizing their full potential.
