Huawei Digital Power Unveils Smart Energy Solutions to Accelerate Global Energy Transition

Huawei Digital Power's Innovations at Intersolar Europe 2025

At the Intersolar Europe 2025 event held in Munich, Huawei Digital Power unveiled its latest strategy and products aimed at accelerating the global energy transition. The event featured the FusionSolar Strategy and highlighted the theme "Smart PV & ESS: Powering a Grid Forming Future." This initiative attracted approximately 300 attendees from around the world, emphasizing the importance of net-forming technologies in shaping the future of energy systems.

One of the key figures in the presentation was Steven Zhou, the chairman of Huawei's Smart PV & ESS Product Line. He discussed the strategic objective of integrating what he termed the "4T" technologies, which include bit, watt, heat, and battery, to build robust energy infrastructures for new energy systems. This integration aims to bolster the sector's transition into a new era of energy generation and management.

The launch also introduced three essential value propositions:
1. Grid Forming for All Scenarios: This technology supports generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption processes, ensuring the long-term stability of modern energy systems.
2. Safety from Cell to Grid: Huawei is committed to implementing thorough safety measures across all stages to protect equipment, personnel, and resources.
3. One Matches All: Their hardware supports scalability and evolution across various applications, utilizing an AI-driven PV+ESS collaborative management platform to adapt to different business models effectively.

Huawei FusionSolar is dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions while fostering an open ecosystem that offers customers competitive advantages and development opportunities for partners. Steve Zheng, the head of Smart ESS Business, presented the Smart String Grid Forming ESS platform, designed to tackle the complexities of integrating renewable energy sources and enhancing ESS safety.

This innovative platform is touted to provide cost efficiency across its lifecycle while embracing the digitalization of all connections involved. Notably, the Smart String Grid Forming ESS can adjust to various battery energy storage system (BESS) states and react to any grid short-circuit ratios (SCR), ultimately supporting future electricity grid advancements.

One impressive application of their solution includes a 1.3 GWh ESS project coupled with a 400 MW PV installation near the Red Sea, which stands as the world’s largest PV+ESS microgrid, capable of supplying a city with 100% renewable energy. This microgrid has been operational for over 18 months, generating more than 1 billion kWh of green electricity.

Another noteworthy project is Huawei's 30 MW PV and 6 MW/24 MWh ESS project in China's Ngari Prefecture. Situated at approximately 4,600 meters above sea level, this energy solution showcases Huawei's capability to operate in extreme conditions while achieving a remarkable PV integration increase by 75%.

Huawei’s innovations redefine safety in ESS, introducing six crucial safety designs aimed at enhancing protection levels from conventional containers to a more refined pack level. Coupled with a fully integrated BMS (Battery Management System) for multi-dimensional diagnostics, Huawei significantly enhances proactive safety measures, ensuring the sustainable growth of the energy storage industry.

Additionally, Huawei Digital Power launched its Home Energy Management Solution 6.0, which encompasses green energy generation and intelligent consumption, setting a new benchmark for residential energy management. Among the products introduced is the LUNA S1-7kWh residential ESS, notable for its leading 15-year warranty, over 40% more usable energy compared to industry averages, and scalable capacity options of up to 252 kWh.

Currently, the global acceptance of Huawei’s residential PV+ESS solutions is evident, supported by 3.9 million households and 30,000 installers. This approach aims to establish energy independence in homes and promote communal energy sharing.

In conclusion, Huawei FusionSolar is resolutely intent on reshaping standards for grid-forming solutions across various contexts. Their aim is to provide global customers and partners with superior and reliable smart PV+ESS solutions that not only meet but exceed expectations, propelling the global shift towards renewable energy and the establishment of new energy systems.
