Enhancing Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities
On July 15, 2026, the Mayor of Chikusei City, Eimiko Shitara, along with staff from the Disability Welfare Section, visited Palette Inc. (headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo), which provides employment support for people with disabilities. This visit was aimed at exploring the company's services "Canvas" and "Colors Lab" in their Mito facility.
Background of the Visit
Palette Inc. operates under the motto "My Support Sustains the Community", striving to create a new framework for employment opportunities for people with disabilities rooted in local communities. Their two initiatives, the satellite office-type employment support service "Canvas" and the vocational transition support service "Colors Lab", are being implemented nationwide. The main purpose of this visit was to garner insights to promote employment for people with disabilities in Chikusei City, create opportunities for local talent, and stimulate regional revitalization.
Highlights of the Site Visit
During the visit, Mayor Shitara and the disability welfare staff toured the Canvas Mito Office, BPO Center, and Colors Lab Mito. They had the opportunity to witness firsthand the employment support and transition services for individuals with disabilities. They engaged with people currently employed through these services and observed the supportive work environment provided for these individuals. Various discussions took place regarding current challenges and the potential for job creation within the community for people with disabilities.
