Gentari's Commitment to Carbon-Free Energy for AMG Ammonia
In a groundbreaking initiative towards sustainable energy solutions, Gentari, a prominent player in clean energy, has recently sealed a major agreement with AMG Ammonia. Through its subsidiary, Gentari Renewables India Castor One Private Limited, this partnership aims at providing substantial carbon-free energy to support AMG Ammonia’s upcoming green ammonia facilities.
Under the terms of this newly signed power purchase agreement (PPA), Gentari is set to deliver a formidable 650 MW of renewable energy on a firm, dispatchable basis. This energy will predominantly be harnessed from a planned 2,400 MWp of renewable energy capacity, utilizing solar and wind sources. Gentari will also implement a robust energy storage system packed with 350 MW/2,100 MWh capacity to ensure a consistent supply for AMG Ammonia’s operations.
The scale of this project, occurring primarily in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, marks it as Gentari's most significant field development globally. The facility will cater to the strict energy demands necessary for green ammonia production, which has been increasingly recognized for its potential in decreasing carbon emissions in various industrial processes.
Navjit Gill, the Country Head of Gentari India, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that this initiative promises to accelerate the expansion of renewable energy assets in India, also emphasizing the uniqueness of this project by integrating energy storage solutions.
AMG Ammonia is working towards establishing one of the world’s largest green ammonia platforms, aiming for a capacity of 5 million tons annually by 2030. This ambitious goal not only aligns with India’s net-zero emissions targets but also plays a vital role in the global green hydrogen movement. AMG’s focus on expanding operations will help meet approximately 1 million tons of green hydrogen annually, contributing to India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and addressing Europe’s hydrogen import needs.
