Sapporo Beer Collaborates with BUAISOU for Unique Indigo-Inspired Brew

A New Brew with an Indigo Touch: YEBISU Creative Brew Aiomou

Sapporo Breweries has announced the limited release of "YEBISU Creative Brew Aiomou," its twelfth product in the Creative Brew series. Launching on April 14, 2026, this collaboration with the famed indigo artisans BUAISOU blends traditional craftsmanship with modern brewing techniques, showcasing the rich heritage of indigo dyeing in Japan.

A Fusion of Craftsmanship

The Creative Brew series, which aims to redefine the boundaries of beer flavor, leverages techniques honed by YEBISU over its 135-year history. The collaboration with BUAISOU—renowned for its dedication to preserving the art of indigo dyeing—embodies a harmonious combination of craftsmanship and artistry. By integrating traditional methods with contemporary elements, BUAISOU enriches the experience of imbibing this distinctive brew.

"Aiomou" translates to "to think of indigo," encapsulating not only the ingredients used but also the philosophy behind its creation. The beer features Japanese-grown hops from Shinshu as well as a brewing method known as husk separation, which eliminates unwanted bitterness and results in a refined, smooth flavor profile.

Tasting Notes and Visual Artistry

This new beer is distinguished by its citrusy aroma, crafted from a duo of hops that evoke the freshness of a warm summer day. The packaging is a work of art itself, showcasing an indigo-dyed design by BUAISOU, employing the innovative Rmagic® printing method. This novel technique delivers a texture and depth to the can that visually represents the intricate flavors contained within.

To celebrate the launch, an exhibition titled "Indigo and YEBISU Craft Exhibition - YEBISU DYED BY BUAISOU -" will be held from April 15 to June 1, 2026, at YEBISU BREWERY TOKYO. Visitors can delve into the creative journey behind the beer and experience the intersection of indigo art and brewing.

Additionally, exclusive to the exhibition, there will be workshops led by BUAISOU's artisans, allowing participants to engage directly with indigo dyeing processes. This hands-on experience will take place on April 25 and 26, where attendees can explore not only the craftsmanship behind the dyeing but also the story behind Aiomou and another special beer, "Hana yori idete hana yori kaguashi."

Limited Edition and Original Goods

In conjunction with Aiomou's release, Sapporo Breweries will also debut the limited-edition "Hana yori idete hana yori kaguashi" on April 15, only at YEBISU BREWERY TOKYO. The inspiration behind this special brew is rooted in the philosophy of craftsmanship—elevating the sensory experience through meticulous brewing techniques. Along with the beers, fans can find a range of original merchandise co-created with BUAISOU, including indigo-dyed apparel and accessories.
