LAOWA Wide Angle VV Cine Lens Series

Sightron Japan Inc., headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is set to launch a new line of ultra-wide cinema prime lenses from the renowned LAOWA brand by Venus Optics. The new series includes three models: the LAOWA 10mm T2.9 Zero-D VV Cine, LAOWA 12mm T2.9 Lite Zero-D VV Cine, and the LAOWA 14mm T2.6 Zero-D VV Cine. These lenses will be available for order starting on April 18, 2025.

Ultra-Wide Coverage

The lenses in this series are designed to cover the Vista Vision format (image circle diameter: φ46.31mm), ensuring compatibility with large format cameras such as the RED Raptor 8K VV and the Alexa LF Open Gate. These ultra-wide lenses are among the best in their class, allowing filmmakers to capture stunning visuals in previously challenging small spaces. The wide-angle perspective is perfect for creating dramatic effects, enhancing the spatial experience of each scene.

Zero-Distortion Design

Typical wide-angle lenses suffer from distortion, but LAOWA’s proprietary Zero-D (Zero Distortion) design significantly minimizes distortion to an imperceptible level. This makes it ideal for shooting architectural or interior scenes where linear elements are emphasized. Filmmakers no longer need to rely on post-production correction for accurate framing, simplifying the process of integrating tracking, compositing, and CGI elements into their footage.

Close-Up Capabilities

Each lens provides a minimum focusing distance ranging from 12 to 20 cm.
