Bloomo Securities' Remarkable Achievement at HPAIR
Bloomo Securities, headquartered in Chuo, Tokyo, has made headlines by having its investment services selected as a case study for the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR), one of the world’s largest international conferences. Known as the ‘Young Leaders’ Davos,’ HPAIR brings young leaders from around the globe to engage in discussions about pressing political, economic, and social issues affecting the Asia-Pacific region. Notable figures, including former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, have previously participated as speakers.
After an 11-year hiatus, the conference returned to Japan, hosted at the University of Tokyo on August 23-24. During this event, participants took part in the “Impact Challenge,” a case competition where they tackled various themes, including the spotlight on promising startups in Japan, notably featuring Bloomo Securities.
Around 70 selected participants from various countries worked collectively to propose a portfolio composed of U.S. stocks and ETFs that can be invested in by Japanese private investors through Bloomo. Following a stringent review process, the winning team was chosen and celebrated for their outstanding achievements.
Presentation Highlights
The presentation on the day was a testament to the innovative ideas shared, and from the portfolios proposed at the conference, one in particular caught attention. Starting August 27, the portfolio from the winning team became available for use on the Bloomo app.
Winning Portfolio: MIRAI Health Tech
The MIRAI Health Tech portfolio is an exceptional proposal sourced from participants of the HPAIR 2025 Asia Conference. It creatively addresses Japan's aging population issue by investing in the healthcare sector, a growth area driven by this demographic shift. The portfolio allocates approximately half of its investment to high-dividend, stable stocks and diversified ETFs, while the remainder is directed towards high-growth health tech companies, ensuring a balance between growth and stability.
Performance Backtest Results
Bloomo Securities has conducted a backtest of the portfolio’s performance using historical data from December 2015 to July 2025. Despite less favorable performance over the past year, the portfolio demonstrated strong resilience during market downturns. Over a decade, it was confirmed that the portfolio would likely outpace globally diversified stock ETFs (VT) based on backtest simulations conducted through Portfolio Visualizer.
Note: Backtesting is a simulation based on past data and does not guarantee future performance.
Since its general service launch in May 2024, Bloomo has been committed to supporting long-term asset formation through features such as portfolio investment tools, dividend reinvestment options, and smart savings investment functionalities. The company continues to strive for enhanced safety and usability in its services.
