BRG Welcomes Barbara Vanich to its Financial Institution Advisory Practice
Washington, D.C. – August 3, 2026 – BRG is thrilled to announce the addition of Barbara Vanich, the former Chief Auditor of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), as a Managing Director in its Financial Institution Advisory practice. With a career spanning over three decades, Vanich is poised to significantly enhance the advisory capabilities of BRG in areas relating to accounting and auditing.
Vanich, a certified public accountant, brings an extensive wealth of knowledge regarding internal controls and corporate governance. She dedicated more than 17 years at the PCAOB, where she led the Office of the Chief Auditor. In this role, she oversaw the PCAOB's standard-setting activities, providing critical advice on auditing and professional standards to the board members, regulators, investors, and other key stakeholders. Her leadership in the PCAOB helped advance audit quality significantly across the industry.
According to Paul Noring, managing director and current leader of BRG's Financial Institution Advisory practice, "Barbara’s leadership at the PCAOB provides her with a unique perspective on the complex accounting and governance issues faced by our clients. Her rich background as both a regulator and as a trusted adviser will be invaluable to our team as we strive to expand our services for financial institutions."
Tri MacDonald, CEO, and President of BRG, echoed this sentiment, highlighting that Vanich’s extensive experience in auditor liability matters and US GAAP accounting policy investigations reinforces BRG's position in these specialized areas. “Adding Barbara to our team directly strengthens our capabilities,” stated MacDonald.
Throughout her career, Vanich has held numerous senior leadership roles at the PCAOB and has experience working as an auditor for various firm sizes, in accounting policy for a large issuer, and in consulting. This combination of public accounting, industry, consulting, and regulatory experience allows her to have a well-rounded understanding of the current priorities in financial reporting and corporate governance.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Vanich stated, "Joining BRG comes at a pivotal moment when accounting and regulatory expectations are rapidly evolving. I am eager to work alongside BRG’s multidisciplinary team to ensure we deliver practical and thoughtful guidance to our clients, informed by my years of experience in shaping auditing standards and financial reporting practices."
Vanich holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Point Park University and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
