Gougin Energy Partners with Clean Energy Connect for Offsite Corporate PPA Services

Gougin Energy and Clean Energy Connect Partnership for Decarbonization

In a significant step toward regional decarbonization, Gougin Energy Inc. (located in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture) and Clean Energy Connect Co. (based in Chiyoda, Tokyo) have formed a partnership to address the challenges faced by local governments and businesses in adopting decarbonization and renewable energy. This collaboration involves offering green power solutions that include offsite Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) services.

Launch of Offsite Corporate PPA Services

As the first initiative of this partnership, Gougin Energy has announced that it will provide offsite corporate PPA services to San-in Godo Bank, starting on April 1, 2026. This collaboration with Clean Energy Connect aims to facilitate access to renewable energy solutions, enhancing the bank's sustainability practices.

Reducing CO2 Emissions

The offsite PPA service for San-in Godo Bank will consist of the development of 11 dedicated Non-FIT small-scale solar power plants. The electricity generated from these plants will be supplied to 30 branches of the bank, resulting in an anticipated annual CO2 emissions reduction of approximately 500 tons. This reduction represents about 13% of the bank's Scope 2 emissions compared to the fiscal year 2024, showcasing a tangible commitment to sustainability.

Enhancing Resilience During Emergencies

In addition to its environmental benefits, the small-scale solar power plants will also incorporate Clean Energy Connect's unique “Prepared Outlet®” technology. In the event of power outages caused by disasters, this system allows local residents to utilize electricity generated by the solar plants, thus contributing to community resilience during emergencies. This initiative aims to enhance disaster preparedness within the areas where these plants are located.

Gougin Energy and Clean Energy Connect are committed to showcasing their efforts with San-in Godo Bank as a concrete example of CO2 reduction within corporate frameworks. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to support municipalities and businesses in achieving their decarbonization goals, contributing to broader regional sustainability efforts.
